I remember reading on the Tolkien Gateway wiki that it’s not clear how Gollum got out of Moria while the bridge was blocked by an epic balrog confrontation. It’s not clear to me either, but maybe he climbed across via the ceiling. This would be a risky endeavor, but possibly, marginally safer than trying to slip past what’s going on on the bridge without getting caught
