Description
This is a departure from the type of work I often do. There is plenty to read into, if you care too. The message comes into more clear focus if you spend some time figuring out what the individual pieces are and the meaning behind each element. This artwork will be sent to live with my good friend - [link] . Sorry it took awhile, thanks for the patience.This is 99% airbrush, some masked and some freehand. It measures 12 inches by 16 inches and is on an illustration type board.

i did a drawing about 4 years ago with a chess board turning into a tidal and i had a hakfin in it just like that

in the background of mine i had a huge eye breaking through the sky which conveniently broke away in brinks looking over a city skyline in the background which represented big brother

my favorite symbol is the message in the posion bottle. i can think of lots of possiblites for its meaning...at least meanings that is related to my life's experiences
it seems like the 3 figures in the background is just watching the atomic bomb sort of like the how people just watches destruction and dont do anything about it, except watch and complain....

There are lots of ways to interpret that component (the message) of this piece. It refers mainly to the idea that there are messages we chose to find and read in life and others that are left behind. Often these messages can have positive or negative effects on the viewer.
The three figures could be seen as facing either way, depending on your pespective. I see these as facing away from the things behind them, turning their backs to things in the past and watching the present from afar.

Can't complain a few small art shows. I've been working on this rather large surreal painting thats almost done and I have some sort of complex ideas that I just have to sort out some way. Missing the "spoon feeding" for sure haha.

Hesitantly: Well I don't know if I am reading this too literally.
It seems like your examining thoughts of indecision and/or morality and the variables effecting choices. Whether that is introspective or a more worldly view I am not sure. The mushroom cloud is throwing me off I don't know how direct of a symbol it is. ( I didn't want to just assume it meant destruction or war)
...and then there is the shark. Which leads me to believe my assumptions were incorrect. Depending on whether the shark is in fact an evil shark.

I looked at a lot of symbology stuff when I planned this. Everything in this work adds a piece towards the meaning for myself and the viewer. The sum of the pieces make the whole. It started as you described with a look at myself, but then it quickly evolved into an attempt to make a more worldly statement about current and past events. That statement is largely based on the viewer's life experiences, knowledge of history, and their knowledge of how to interpret the symbols. I realize now that I may have overcomplicated things and missed on the communication for some viewers. It's a new attempt at another style of my work. This is brilliant. Reminds me of Dali not just in the physical layout, but the way concepts are presented. I like your choice of representational objects. Very dreamy indeed.

Thanks Tim, that means alot coming from you. I don't know if I like showing that much influence from a single artist in my work, but do have to admit that I am happy with the final result.
