Description
An entire dump full of my feathered beasties FACE.Anyway, I wanted to continue playing around with painting and sketching over all, as well as figuring out once and for all, Elzatros's colors. I'm finally working up a ref for him. But for now, a bunch of concepts/sketches.
I need help drawing a frontal facial view of him T_T
Also, I realize that his colors are a little too vibrant for my own liking.. It doesn't help that my monitor is so bright. I'm actually still tweaking his colors a bit, but more or less, this is him

Yeah, I mean in terms of a bunch of feathers, basically in my own species, they have feathers in the place of hair and I just find it difficult to make it look like feathers and not just like clumps of hair. I'm getting better though. Looking at great pictures like yours gives me tips and ideas

I used to have a problem where my feathers would look like leaves x_x without a certain shape to it, they tend to look funny for me.. but these are rather quick sloppy, non-detailed feathers :s but thank you, I'm very glad to hear that

Also for me i have the problem of imagining what my dragons look like from the side, but not the front so it's kind of hard for me to translate front views onto any sort of canvas.

Mind you, this was like.. 3 years ago, and I've never used watercolors before, i was treating them as if they were more acrylic.. Plus, this was a very old concept of Elzatros!

Not too bad for the first time!! Painting in general is a hard medium to master,
especially if you're a line artist! It's all about transparency! But damn, his colors changed up!

Painting is a pain, but I wish I had the materials and drive to do it... yea, he had a huge color update. I liked his colors before, but it didn't wow me enough, didn't pop out and didn't seem to fit "The Crimson Beast"
