Description I am drained and I'm tired of working on this. I've been on this piece for about a half an hour a day for 2 weeks. And I'm not too happy with the outcome, I really wanted to do something a little fancy for each bust (add a fancy BG) but i give up! I want to start on something new and practice and get some headworld concepts down finally.

Here you'll see Elzatros, Enavoska, Draken, a Golden beast (Which I have yet to name) and another new beast at the top left who also doesn't have a name.

Everyone except Draken is a paradise beast, giving them crazy bright colorful colors. I may redesign the two new ones...

And oh look i took off Enavoska's white mask deal. Yay

pft, I looked at the title with my glasses off and read "some butts".... I'm all better now. Anyway, they're pretty awesome dragons. They look heavily inspired by the later Final Fantasy Designs.

Hah, I can see that happening. Thank you for the compliment.

But these designs were not heavily inspired by final fantasy... These are my original species, if anything inspired by birdies and my love for beastial designs.

If you look at the stuf for FF10 and beyond, you can see why I would think that though. The one in the top corner matches the color pallet for bahamut perfectly. They're really awesome designs though, and even more impressive if you actually didn't have FF inspiration, because that means you thought the same way those designers did. ^-^

I appreciate it!

As much as I'd like to dive into that series, I have only ever played FFX-2 and their designs are very impressive. But perhaps much too detailed compared to my stuff Though i'd love to make more detailed pieces eventually.

Why thank you so much! I'm very glad you enjoy them!

I'm okay with people calling them "Dragons" because that's what it's going to be. But- though they are inspired by those beasts, they are just called beasts for lack of a better term for other worldly (alien) creatures... Lol, but thank you again

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-03-20 01:47:29 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome!

Ah, I do the same with some of my own fantasy creatures. They look similar to something well-known, but aren't, so I just call them 'beasts'. It seems to fit. These guys are definitely unique, and they have a dragonish look to them, but do have an otherworldly appeal. Makes me wonder what kind of a world they'd be in.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

itz-Rascal In reply to BahamutDeusModus [2015-03-20 11:21:10 +0000 UTC]

I feel ya

Thanks again I might just go ahead and tweak their design (again) just to make them look a little less "Dragony" and more alien. It's a hard transition because most of us (even me) have this vision of these slimy or humanoid with weird textured skin and extra limbs and what not and call them aliens- and being that growing up all i really drew was dragons, it's a bit of a challenge. These guys are a part of my head world. They are on their own planet and are considered aliens from a human stand point!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-03-23 02:27:59 +0000 UTC]

Are these guys intelligent or more like animals? I've noticed more lately that 'aliens' seems to have become broader, as far as appearances go. People either make them look close to humans or completely different. I like thinking of these guys as aliens instead of dragons, it does fit their different appearance better.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

itz-Rascal In reply to BahamutDeusModus [2015-03-23 10:53:11 +0000 UTC]

Honestly that's a good question. Some would have high intelligence while some have more of a primal nature to them- who has what is a question I'm still asking myself. But for now I'd like to say that these guys are fairly intelligent. Some being capable of speech if they needed to.. but I'm going to make that dependable on the species.

I'm glad you see it that way c:> I think it needs a little more work personally, but yea the term "alien" has a very broad spectrum as far as designs.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-03-27 02:06:33 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that's a cool idea; I like playing around with 'intelligence' on my creatures too. Sometimes it's fun to have something between an animal and human, instead of just a regular animal or a talking creature. So are you going to write a book or something about these guys? That would be fun to read!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

itz-Rascal In reply to BahamutDeusModus [2015-03-27 11:16:37 +0000 UTC]

Well I'm not so 100% sure on what I'm going to do as far as the story. I would love to write a book about some of my characters and headworld generally and it's something that i am actively working on today actually! As far as plot and main characters and such.. I think i mentioned something in one of my recent journals. But I do plan on fleshing it out and drawing concept arts of my world Now it's just finding the time / motivation to write and put pieces together!

I like diversity in creatures- there will definitely be those intelligent that can and cannot speak, and others that are still primal and not so sentient. So definitely some of that

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-03-30 19:23:32 +0000 UTC]

So you have a world, now you just need a story for it! I've been writing a book series for a couple years now, and for me it was the more I wrote, the more the world became fleshed out. I've done a lot of sketches for it, but sometimes it takes a while to figure out how to draw something you only saw in your head. Writing can take a lot of time and effort, so you have to enjoy it I think in order to write something long. I hope you enjoy it!
Well, in a fantasy/sci-fi setting, it's easy to make creatures diverse, and fun too. I like to change it up, so instead of having, say, a regular looking animal that talks just like a human (like by moving it's mouth) and is intelligent, I'd rather have a regular looking animal that is intelligent but can't talk like a human, because it's mouth/vocal cords are not like a human's at all.

itz-Rascal In reply to BahamutDeusModus [2015-03-31 11:21:41 +0000 UTC]

I've been working on this story ever since I was about 13 years old. Never had a base idea back then but the process of recollecting all the things that I wrote and revising it is very time consuming. I haven't started writing because I'm too focused on planning. Head world stuff needs to be flawless! I do tons of sketching as well, but that's another headache in itself, to find a design you are satisfied with. I sketch so much on paper but I don't think I'd ever be posting them up- I mean they are messy and just little sketches :s

I think I enjoy it for the most part! (Writing i mean)

Yes, exactly I love things like that. It feels more realistic for me actually, to have them intelligent but to communicate different and not by necessarily vocalized speaking. I mean I can do both, again diversity is always good in my book.

So you've been working on your own story?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-04-03 05:24:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh, so it's been with you for a while then! (though I don't know how old you are now )
I've always been thinking of stories since I was little, and yet it wasn't until two years ago that I actually came up with an idea, and just started writing until I finished a novel. I've never finished a book before, though I've started a lot of stories. My idea came from a simple weather phenomenon, and in the span of a few minutes I had a simple outline in my head of how the book would start. Before this book, I always created a world first, and spent hours on the world itself, but failed with the story. This time I did the opposite, and just started writing. Of course I had to edit a few things in the beginning once I was done, but it worked out much better than I would've ever thought. Now, I've started on the second book, and intend for this to be a series. I've sent letters to agencies for the first book, but never got a bite for it yet, so I'm thinking of self-publishing.

Headworld stuff does have to match up! Sometimes you get an idea, and then the idea changes and expands over time, and then you have to alter your original thought of it. And sketches... I love doing sketches, especially of my story, but you're right about finding a design you're satisfied with. Sometimes it just takes forever! Even worse when you don't know what's wrong with it! O.O

You know that's an interesting take on story making- and I even considered just starting to write without planning too much on the world itself just yet... But being something so dear and close to me, I need to plan before anything! lol

So what's your book about? There are lots of tips out there on self publishing! I wish you luck on that c:

Yes ideas are constantly cycling and altering. It's kind of hard when you always have new ideas and you don't know what to pick The sketches of course, have to be my favorite part! I feel that pain when it comes to designing

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-04-05 15:35:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think it's a bit unconventional too, but the other times I planned the story, I never finished them. Maybe this is just my way of writing? I agree with what author George Martin said, about instead of being an architect of the story, he's more of a planter, where you plant plot seeds and watch what they grow into instead of building it all out from the start.

It's a fantasy series taking place in a world ruled by the deadly Freezing Fog, where humans are at odds with the strange race of beings that live within the Fog itself. It follows a 16 year old girl as events start changing when giant beasts come out of the Fog to attack. Well of course, there's more to it than that, but I don't want to bore you.

I thought so too; seeing as how his book's are going right now, I'd say it worked for him.

Oh, I'm glad you think so! The few people I've had read the first book so far all say it's pretty interesting, even if fantasy isn't their favorite genre. I take that as a good sign (and I trust them to be honest with me) so I hope when I publish it, others will think the same and want to read more. I wrote the first book pretty quickly too, taking just over a year. I was really surprised, but it was so fun, and I had the time to spend on writing it.
The Fog is something I thought of after seeing a bit of a freezing fog a couple years ago around where I live. But of course, in my fantasy world, it's much more extreme and dangerous.

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-04-10 05:13:35 +0000 UTC]

They're all my family members, and I'm grateful I got them to read the book. Like I said though, I'm glad they're honest; I originally had real-world technology in the story (like dishwashers ) but everyone thought it was weird, so I took that all out. Critiquing does help when it's done right!
Oh, I'm happy to hear that you'd like to read it! I don't know when I'll be able to publish it, hopefully within a year maybe? But I will let you know, and if you're still interested you can pick it up and give it a read! Even though I love printed books, I'm considering publishing it as an ebook instead first, as it seems to be cheaper.
I do have some sketches, I actually uploaded a creature sketch today too. Here's that one, bahamutdeusmodus.deviantart.co… and here's the folder I have in my gallery for the sketches bahamutdeusmodus.deviantart.co… . I haven't really drawn the main characters like I want them to look yet.... but the creatures I've done a lot more on. I haven't uploaded every sketch either, just a few.

Well what era is the story taking place? Dishwashers don't sound weird lol My apologies.

No definitely let me know I'm in need of a good new fresh read! I've been looking up online seeing what books I can pick up simply because I just want a new story to read. EBooks are interesting though I never got to read an "e book" specifically. If cheaper- by all means!

Neat concepts I do like the prowler's look. I also took a quick glance of your Map and I love maps- I mean they are just so cool I actually have a map of one of my Planets that is a w.i.p. still but i'd like to post it up soon

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to itz-Rascal [2015-04-13 17:18:53 +0000 UTC]

I think the era is sort of like getting past medieval, perhaps. There's magic in the story, and instead of going with technology like on our planet, I decided that a medieval world with magic would have a type of technology of its own, not too advanced but appropriate with the story. Haha, no worries!

I've never read an ebook either, actually. Just from what I hear, they seem to be just as popular as physical books. Well, I guess of course it would be, most people are on the ball with technology and stuff (like buying a new iphone as soon as it comes out).
So I'm guessing you like fantasy/sci-fi novels then? If you haven't read them yet and are looking for a good series, you could always try A Song of Ice and Fire. It's a medieval fantasy series that's very good. Since my book's not out yet, you could always give them a try if you haven't yet.

Oh, thank you! I had fun with the map, but I've been wanting to revise it a bit lately. I love maps showing fantasy worlds, it always helps to have an idea of where things are taking place and how the world looks.

Oh hell yes I love all that sci-fi and fantasy good stuff. I'm actually watching Game Of Thrones now xD I'd love to read the books as well though.

Yeah, kindles are used to read ebooks. I know there's other brands too, right? I think maybe iPads can read ebooks? I had an iPad but I've never downloaded an ebook before. I might have to one day now.

Oh, well there ya go! I'm watching Game of Thrones too; I love the tv series, it's what got me started on the series itself. I read the books that are out too, and both versions are very good, I think. The books are huuuuuge though.
