CIE QUICH is the name given to the rulers of the Chimú civilization, contemporary with the Tawantinsuyu (the Inca Empire), and, before them, their ancestors, the Mochica , or Moche people, from the northern coast of Peru, that flourished from ca. the 2nd Century b.c. to the 7th Century CE.

Rather than a centralized empire, the Mochica civilization was more likely divided by independent city-states with their own hierarchy, that shared culture and language. Despite they left no written language, they're remarkable for their art, such as ceramics, jewelry, gold, and architecture, leaving pyramid-like adobe structures later known by the Kichwa (a group which include the Inca) as Wak'akuna (plural form of Wak'a, later hispanicized as Huaca, name given to sacred places).

The art of the Mochica depicts sexual themes, mythical creatures, usually inspired by sea animals, warfare and sacrifice of war captives. Some of the most well known Mochica individuals are the Lord of Sipán, from the 3rd Century, and the Lady of Cao, from the 5th Century. The discovery of the richly adorned mummy of the Lady of Cao changed the perception of archaeologists about the role of women in Mochica hierarchy.
