Description
A Jorogumo is a Yokai from traditional Japanese folklore described in writings from the Edo period onwards. It's a spider which can shapeshift into a beautiful woman, or a spider-woman. Various areas were said to have been inhabited by a Jorogumo mistress, such as the Joren Falls of Izu, Shizuoka, and in the legend of Kashikobuchi, from Sendai. Jorogumo can also refer to some species of spiders, such as those from the Nephila or Argiope genera.
