Description
Kanaloa is the large ocean world within the Ra System. Part of a binary pair with the colder earth-like planet, Thator.

Most of the landmass on Kanaloa was formed as a result of a massive meteor impact that occurred a few hundred million years ago. Since Kanaloa lacks shifting tectonic plates, the crater has remained virtually unchanged over the millenia. However, the force of the impact created a massive hot spot on the opposite end of the planet, causing a volcano to constantly grow in one spot. At one point the volcano may have been the tallest mountain in the entire solar system, but approximately 100 million years ago, it suffered a cataclysmic eruption that ended up wiping out a majority of life on the planet. Half the continent collapsed into the sea, creating tsunamis that couldn't be stopped by even the tallest mountain ranges.

Since then, life has recolonized Kanaloa's landmasses, which now hosts a biome unique to the planet. After the volcano collapsed, it exposed enormous crystal veins, with massive shards hundreds of meters tall in some places.
