That saying is so true always (Actually human happyness is not based on how the life style they are living but just the people they are living around. Feels for teh loner)
Anyways nice job, especially for not having a tablet or atleast any pressure. Love it

Greetings from
Nice work and nice expression you have here. In comparison to your older digital work, this one is much clearer. The shadows aren't blurred. Every part of the work stands out clearly. But there is always something that can be improved. The learning process never stops. It can be frustrating sometimes, but well, it's better to get used to it as early as possible. ^^
Working with colours isn't that easy, because you need to observe your surrounding as well as studying colour theory to get well balanced artworks and works, which look interesting. Colours are just one part, but still an important one, if you choose to do a coloured drawing or painting.
Seeing that you just used a darker hue of the main colour in the derg (by the way, what is a derg? never heard of it), leads to two tips I can give you: The first is to study colour theory and make some coloured life studies. This will also help you to train your observations skills. There is also a good book by James Gurney "Color and Light". It explains very well the influence of atmosphere on the colours and how colours can be used to create interesting and special moods within the work. It helped me quite a lot to handle colours better. I am telling you that, because a shadow doesn't just have a darker hue of the main colour of an object. It is influenced by quite a lot of different things, like the overall atmosphere and the reflected light, which would come from the ground, if taking your work as an example. But you don't need to learn everything at once. Just take one step at another.
The second tip is about shading in general. You don't have a real understanding of the figure itself. You need to think about the form the figure has and then about the source of light. Your light comes from the upper right side, so the overall shadows should have been placed on the left side. And the highlights within the eyes and the nose should be placed more on the right side, because of the sun.
To be honest, I don't know many things about doglike creatures, because rarely draw some, but I could give a general tip: If you want to draw something, it doesn't matter what, look for a good reference or even better more. These will help you to understand what you are drawing and don't be ashamed to use references, because there is no person in the world, who could draw everything just out of his head. It's just not possible and even the old master have used references. But don't make the mistake and mistake referencing for copying. You should not copy mindlessly. It won't help you and it also more creative to find a way to use your references with the idea you have in your mind. It would be a pity if you would waste your nice ideas to just get a more correct anatomy, for example. Mistakes are allowed. You can learn, because of them. Oh and when I am talking about reference, I mean real life things like photos or maybe your own dog, if you have one. The reason is that for every style there are always real things the foundation. You can stylize as much as you like as long as you understand what you are doing. Knowing the real life things, will help you improve your skill in general, even if you stylize.
Continue to use backgrounds and to include figure in it. There are quite some people, who are afraid of backgrounds, so it is good to see, that you are trying out different things. Continue like that and you will get better and better with time. You also will get better ideas for your work in general. Make also sure that you don't blur anything, especially in digital works. You did well in choosing to not blurr anything here. It also takes some bravery to do so. So you can be proud of yourself.
If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask and I hope we will see more of your works in our group.
