On one hand, this picture have all the potential to be a great photo but on the other hand since the DSLR boom and the overflow of macro-shots of bugs and etc this is nothing more than a good pic.

you sound like you know a lot more about this than I do so can you please elaborate...
are you saying the photo is being handicapped by the fact that dslr bloom and overflow is so common in digital macro shots... I guess I'd like you to clarify what potential did not come through to make this a "great photo"

Allow me to rephrase.
What i mean is that since the digital camera came along almost everyone can simply aim and shoot a shot like this, which (to me) is apparent when browsing through DA and other sites.
But that is apart from the image itself, which is great from a technical aspect but lacks in thought and originality.
My 5 cents

I get what you're saying... there's definitely a huge aspect in originality when it comes to photography for the reasons you mentioned. I feel you're exagerrating how easy it is to take shots like this however... theres a certain amount of skill needed to be able to shoot manual in the first place, furthermore shooting macro is a whole other animal. I agree with the overall sentiment of you comment but I think you sound a little elitist when you put everyone else's photos do some kind of epic standard. The truth its many of us are beginners or simply amateurs.

I agree, somehow i didnt think about amateurs and beginners - a very valid point.
