Damn, this reminds me of that essay I'm supposed to be doing... I've got a book open to some Futurist paintings, and I can see some definite parallels. Crazy good linework, mate

I hadn't done much abstract art (mostly I did surrealism/symbollism, etc.) until I did a couple of abstract pastel drawings. After the drawings, I was hooked!

Good point. I must say, I'm drawn to your analysis about pencils. That erases my previous thoughts about them being anomalies.

Yeah, it's kind of an anomaly in the series since the others are so organic, so perhaps that motivated your reaction. On the other hand, the idea that someone would devote such a large canvas and time to something as innocuous as a pencil is kind of funny.
