Great colored pencil work! Truyl phenominal. The shading, blending, and to still maintain a professional crispness, great work, and ORIGINAL, which is very important in my book.

this is just awesome the textures are justa amazing and all the shading cives a lot of 3d feeling !!! this one goes to my FAV!!!

ivanjs In reply to reiq [2005-04-03 17:02:38 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. It was hard for me not to go crazy on the colors (i tend to like intense color), because I wanted it to have that "old" worn and weathered look. So I concentrated on the textures instead, and I appreciate your noticing them.

really interesting piece, you have a great grasp of mayan art and style. the concept is amazing...really makes you think.

Thank you! Glad you found it interesting.

All the pieces in the series are original concepts, but with Meso-American influence. I've been a fan of Mayan (Aztec and Olmec as well) art and architecture most of my life. Loved incorporating that interest with my love of technology!

This is simply beautiful... I think my favorite part about this piece is that it appears to have a soft texture to it. wow... okay now I'm jealous :-P

I like the inspiration of the piece and how it shows through. Lovely blend of colours. I especially like the rusty feeling of this

ivanjs In reply to dearlithium [2005-03-28 19:12:22 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I tried to keep the color palette subdued compared to my vivid abstract paintings, owing to the simulated age of the subject matter. Thanks for your comments!

this one has a funny edge to it that reminds me of a similar statue in a weird al yankovitz movie named "UHF" .. silly little movie from the 80s that makes fun of movies and tv shows

cheers

Hey, I remember that movie! It has what I consider the funniest single word joke in the history of entertainment-

"Supplies!"

Works on Sooooo many levels.
