Saw this male and female duck (they were definitely with each other) at a park near my home and thought how cute that they were on opposite sides of this fence post looking at each other.I wish they weren't in the fence shadow because the male loses all detail in the face (and I tried most PS tricks I know for bringing out the detail). Still conceptually, it works.

i feel like this concept needs better symmetry
nice idea tho, and whatever PS work you've done it looks perfectly realistic.

p.s. did u try the shadow/highlight filter for extracting detayl from the shades ?

I tried curves, levels, all kinds of stuff. I just couldn't pull it out without making it look artificial.

if u're not familiar with the shadows/highlight adjustment tool (not curves/levels)
you should definately catch me on MSN so i can explain it to ya
it makes for incredible and realistic results

i cleaned the image before making all the silly paperish effects
and the silverish symbol on the hat/barret that sits on the shoulder strap
was pretty much just white in the original.
i had to first get whatever info possible out with the
shadow/highlight tool and then i sharpened just that
part and then i also corrected it a tad manually
.. just a tad (erased 3 pixels)

I was saddened when I saw a duck somebody ran over in the road. I see a lot of possums, but the duck made me sad.
