Description
I know it's physically impossible for Percy to mislay his sword, but imagine the situation if he could? It would probably look something like thisThere will be a part two in this
Edit: Done! Here it is:
:thumb407936821:
Edit #2: it is the movie version of the pen. it's a more comical effect that way. besides, a capped pen is deranged. what if you drop the lid? does one have to keep track of the lid all the time??? ugh
Ok that's it
I'm creating a Percy Jackson folder in my gallery

(Yay! Reading description so I understand why it is not a capped pen!)
Anyway, I love this piece, and the sequel is also hilarious. I love the idea of it.

hmmm yes I've answered that question maybe 20 times now in the comments. i used the movie version, it's a nicer effect in this piece

Actually, it's a capped pen, but I still think it's hilarious!

I know, but I thought it'd be a nicer effect with the movie-version. Thanks!

You do know that his pen automatically pops back in his pocket right?

It would totally satisfy my inner prankster to switch out Riptide with an ordinary ink pen without Riptide returning to his pocket on April Fool's Day.
Percy: *ready to battle* *uncaps Riptide* *isn't acually Riptide* Seriously?!
Me: *appears out of nowhere* April Fool's!

You better watch out then! Even if pens don't hurt monsters, Percy can still stab you with an ordinary one

But I have Riptide, remember? The pen may be mightier than the sword, but not when you bring it to a swordfight.

Or if he just had another pen in his pocket and it's like "Come on riptide I don't have time for this I'm about to be frikkin eaten!"

That would be the most stupid thing he could have done, placing another ballpoint pen next to his sword one. That's probably what he did in the drawing ...

Actually, Percy has to uncap his pen for it to become a sword. Not click it. That was only in that horrible excuse for a Percy Jackson movie.

IVDP In reply to bkworm5 [2014-03-01 22:26:31 +0000 UTC]
I think the only good thing about the Percy Jackson movie was the clickable pen! I mean, where would you put the cap when you've uncapped it? I think it's much handier not having to look for the cap in order to un-summon your magic sword. Just a click on the hilt and it turns back into a normal pen again. Even if the capped riptide plays a role in house of hades it all could've been solved in an easier way - a clickable pen.
Also this scene that I drew wouldn't have been as funny if Percy had his original pen, so I made a swap. This is my excuse!

in HOH, annabeth said that percy just dropped the cap. it would always return to his pocket.

In HoH, he can use it as a pen if he puts the cap on the other end.

Well yes! I used the movie version's clickable pen because I thought it would fit better.

Thank you! I know, I know .... I had to use the movie-version in order to draw this. I thought it'd look way more funny with a Percy frantically clicking his out-of-order pen!

I always thought riptide being a click pen was a dumb idea. think about it: if I have problems constantly clicking those things, can you imagine how much percy would be doing it? he'd be in the middle of class and his sword would be impaling his desk like every two seconds and the mortal kids in his class would just be like wtf?

themeepynerd In reply to mad4dragons [2013-10-18 19:05:31 +0000 UTC]
It's actually a capped pen, and he hopefully knows not to use it to write. XD

mad4dragons In reply to themeepynerd [2013-10-22 05:30:24 +0000 UTC]
I know that. I'm saying that the people who made the movie are stupid to think making it a retractable pen was a good idea. and actually he does know how to write with it now.
