Time to dawwwwwwwwww.The two tiny ponies poked their heads out from behind their mother. Before them was a strange pony; his belly was plated with scales and teal frills puffed out where his ears should have been. He blinked his slitted eyes at them, smiling sweetly.
"Hey, there!" he greeted, "I'm your cousin Gem!"
The two fillies returned this statement with vacant stares. Their mother let out a small chuckle.
"Oh, you two! No need to be nebbish. Gem doesn't bite," Sweetie Belle urged, locking her eyes on the larger of the two fillies. Cautiously, the little foal stepped forward, stumbling a bit, her eyes glued to the kirin before her. Her sister remained behind their mother, peeking out from behind a pearl leg.

Rarity, Twilight, and Spike are deep in conversation, and Pinkie is playing a game of frisbee with Rainbow Dash, Glitter, and Bourbon. Spitfire is trying to coax Lights out of a cloud.

In order for Gem to look more like a possible child of Spike and Rarity, I would suggest changing his parts that are teal with green. To be honest, other than the basic dragon traits, it feels that he's lacking a few things from Spike.
