Description
Description: This script will add thumb code collecting capabilities to deviantArt. It is also capable, of sorting thumbs, and sending notes to deviants one has featured in a journal or news article. Use it to collect tons of thumbs for features and forum activities.Shameless self promotion
Installing If you don't already have GreaseMonkey installed on your Firefox, than click here to install it . After you restarted FireFox click here to install ThumbTools. GreaseMonkey will ask if you'd like to install the script, click "install" and enjoy! IMPORTANT If you have Thumbler, or the previous version of ThumbTools installed, un-install it first.
This is still a buggy BETA! Please report all errors you may come across!Keep regularly checking the menu! If a new version is released, a new menu item will appear to inform you about that!
Usage Drag your mouse over an image, and copy the thumb code. To collect more thumbs press the + button, and use the "dA Thumbs" button in the "ThumbTools" menu!
PLEASE SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT by visiting my gallery, or donating points.
Developer:
Note on Chrome compatibility: User scripts for Chrome do not allow GM_getValue and GM_setValue, and I'm making extensive use of them in this script! Due to this short coming I do not see a Chrome compatible version in the near future!

Version 2.0.32 beta
Two tiny bug fixes
Version 2.0.321 beta
=Dediggefedde has partially restored functionality, after the project and the plugin was dead for about 2 years. Thanks for that!
Next version: The project was dead for 2 years now after I had started to have financial problems. Since than my life returned to normal, but for now I have other pet projects that are more dear to my heart. Also keeping a grease monkey script alive, is a pain if the host site is changing frequently and refuses to provide an API, so it is simply just more work than it's worth. Maybe one day (when the 5th or 6th similar grease monkey with basically the same features gets created, and then abandoned) dA will realize that this feature should be part of their own website, or at least they provide some kind of API. But until than I don't think I have time to take care of this regularly.
Features I wish I could have done:
User definable output styles, Support for HTML and BB codes, support Large tumbs, support :dev: and :icon: codes
handle :print: codes and prints
Saving and loading lists, adding to saved list
Show thumb menu on deviations page too.
Auto-sync selection indicators between windows
Suggest DD
Requirement FireFox, GreaseMonkey
Any other idea is welcome!
If you extend this script, please send it back to me, so I can include it in the next version

wow an answer so quickly
okay: i use firefox 2.0.0.20.
-installed the addons greasemonkey, stylish (with a dA style) and a different theme than the default
does it only work with firefox 3 or does it have problems with the other addons?

hmmm... really good question! I think it shouldn't have problem with FF2, so I will go for the bold guess, that it conflicts with stylish. This is quite possible, because somehow the script need to find an "anchor point" where it can add it's own elements to the site. On the other hand stylish may modify the structure of the site, thereby removing, or repositioning my anchor elements. Can you try switching of Stylish, and see if that fixes the problem?

The script wasn't tested for FF2, so switching to FF3 may still solve the problem, but I would be surprised if that was the problem. Also try to check if the monkey in the lower right corner of firefox is happy and colorful. If it's sad and black and white, than click on it to enable grease monkey.
If it still doesn't solve the problem, than I have no freakin' idea, what could the problem be. If you know a bit of java scripting, than you could check the error messages for me.

there is a javascript console in FF. Open it up with ctrl+shift+J ... If the scripts encounters an error it will send an error message there.

Well.. if you go to your gallery page, than I hope you'll receive some error messages in that window. If you don't than the script didn't even start. In that case the problem is not with the script but either with your greasemonkey installation, or your firefox.

Presently Deviant art is being developed, and it is very inconvenient to develop extensions for a site, that is changing so fast, besides many of the features may appear form one day to another, making an extension useless. Because of that, and the fact that I'm pretty busy with finishing my PhD course, I do not intend to develop any such extensions now for a while...
Anyway... I'm glad you liked the script, and I hope you'll have fun with it

Sounds like a really nice app u've got though, thumbs are truly the most annoying thing to copy n paste. also on ur note about auto "thx for the fav" it would kill alot of pageviews for people coz visitin someones profile to say thx is the main time tht someone goes to look at someones elses gallery
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ivettordog In reply to Gabirules54 [2009-05-03 19:59:54 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... I undestand that, though it would still appear in the stats, as the auto commenting script would download the page anyway. Also I'd like to make a script that would show the 5 most popular deviation of the deviant who ed in your message center, so that you don't have to open up his gallery to find out if you are interested.

Soooo... now go and check my photos XD
