Description
Description: This script will add thumb code collecting capabilities to deviantArt. It is also capable, of sorting thumbs, and sending notes to deviants one has featured in a journal or news article. Use it to collect tons of thumbs for features and forum activities.Shameless self promotion
Installing If you don't already have GreaseMonkey installed on your Firefox, than click here to install it . After you restarted FireFox click here to install ThumbTools. GreaseMonkey will ask if you'd like to install the script, click "install" and enjoy! IMPORTANT If you have Thumbler, or the previous version of ThumbTools installed, un-install it first.
This is still a buggy BETA! Please report all errors you may come across!Keep regularly checking the menu! If a new version is released, a new menu item will appear to inform you about that!
Usage Drag your mouse over an image, and copy the thumb code. To collect more thumbs press the + button, and use the "dA Thumbs" button in the "ThumbTools" menu!
PLEASE SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT by visiting my gallery, or donating points.
Developer:
Note on Chrome compatibility: User scripts for Chrome do not allow GM_getValue and GM_setValue, and I'm making extensive use of them in this script! Due to this short coming I do not see a Chrome compatible version in the near future!

Version 2.0.32 beta
Two tiny bug fixes
Version 2.0.321 beta
=Dediggefedde has partially restored functionality, after the project and the plugin was dead for about 2 years. Thanks for that!
Next version: The project was dead for 2 years now after I had started to have financial problems. Since than my life returned to normal, but for now I have other pet projects that are more dear to my heart. Also keeping a grease monkey script alive, is a pain if the host site is changing frequently and refuses to provide an API, so it is simply just more work than it's worth. Maybe one day (when the 5th or 6th similar grease monkey with basically the same features gets created, and then abandoned) dA will realize that this feature should be part of their own website, or at least they provide some kind of API. But until than I don't think I have time to take care of this regularly.
Features I wish I could have done:
User definable output styles, Support for HTML and BB codes, support Large tumbs, support :dev: and :icon: codes
handle :print: codes and prints
Saving and loading lists, adding to saved list
Show thumb menu on deviations page too.
Auto-sync selection indicators between windows
Suggest DD
Requirement FireFox, GreaseMonkey
Any other idea is welcome!
If you extend this script, please send it back to me, so I can include it in the next version

I don't use firefox but I will this for awesomeness. Maybe it will be standard functionality in a future version of dA?

Well, post in it in the site suggestions forum and see what they think. I think it would be very benificial to everybody, and doesn't seem like it would take to much effort to get it implemented.

ivettordog In reply to Kaibu [2009-04-11 07:23:37 +0000 UTC]
I did post it But they didn't even give a crap! Honestly I think that anything that can be implemented as a firefox plug-in should be implemented as such, that way we don't need to wait for them.
And as for browsers:
- IE is a huge security leak, like a front door left open with a "steal from me" sign on it
- Safari and Chrome use the webkit render engine which is a pile of sh*t, and renders most of the CSS codes incorrectly... it's a real nightmare to develop any website for that.. most developers just ignore it resulting in a bunch of websites not appearing correctly under these browsers... what's more: they have less features than Opera and FireFox
- Opera is fine, but their license agreement is not so nice, and there is no community behind it...
- FireFox is far the most featured, most open, and has the best community with lot's of grate extensions. It's only drawback is the memory leak in it, that causes FF to fill up your memory if you don't restart it once or twice a day, but that's hardly a real limitation...
So why would anyone use anything other than FireFox? Never understood that

There is no need to restart the computer. ThumbTools should appear on gallery, and favorites pages

when I am editing my own gallery, I had an idea, what if I could use thumb-tools to feature/hide images and to organize into my own folders easier. I currently use your thumb tools so I would love to see more gallery editing tools with in it.

Honestly I'm not sure if I'm going to continue development on ThumbTools. =diado received a Daily Deviation on the similar Thumber, thereby gaining quite large popularity, and even though it used to be a less powerful tool, by now =diado has updated it to a state from where I feel no urge to keep my own version racing against his. There is simply no point in having two freely available equivalent tool around. So unless =diado decides to give up support on Thumber I don't think I will go on with a totally pointless development I will spend that time with either doing more photography, or developing other useful tools
So please go and tell =diado about your idea, I'm sure he will more than welcome your suggestion.

strange! I've been using FireFox for like ages now, and never came across any ad wares... with IE I did, but never with FF...
BTW have you tried the latest version of Ubuntu Linux? waaaay better than vista, and an extra layer of protection. (There are no viruses, and ad/spy wares for Linux at all...)
