I'd try to reference photos of actual people when it comes to poses that aren't facing forward, since a lot of times there are small details that you don't think about but can make your picture turn out a lot more anatomically correct. For instance, May's head shouldn't be able to turn that far around, and her torso to hip ratio is awkward. Brendan needs just a few slight corrections on his proportions, like the humor bone section. I really think referencing real pictures would help a lot- sometimes you might think you can draw it perfectly fine without a reference but all of the drawings I've done where I've referenced photos have turned out much better afterwards.
