The Black Shuck...
Something about them releases a presence of terror and death. Those who wander onto it's highly-protected territory will find themselves in a darkness worse than a moonless night, triggering a hunt that shall last until their death (or until they can escape the darkness of their land). If the Black Shuck catches its prey, their flesh is devoured and their bones buried on the border of their home, thus making a 'circle of death' which brings upon the darkness within the land.
