My first attempt at drawing the great detective Charlie Chan. Keep in mind that I drew this at 3am while sleep deprived, so it may not be my best work. I'm open to suggestions for the design. And yes, I fully intend on doing my own comics with this character. I just need to familiarize myself a bit better with the classic canon.

And no, I'm not attempting to promote Asian stereotypes. Charlie was created to be the antithesis of the existing Asian stereotype (which was a diabolical villain, something current culture seems to have slipped back into). He's not a martial artist, his greatest weapon is his mind. In the films, he spoke broken English, but NOT in the original books, where he learned the language from poetry and was quite eloquent. He was also based on a real Chinese-American detective who really enjoyed watching his fictional counterpart on the silver screen. If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.
