[TWO WORDS THAT AND MAKE THIS FANBASE THE BEST]
"Infinite Timelines"
These two words basically open the floodgates for literally every piece of "head-canon" or "AU" scenarios to instantly become canon.
If there is a situation, it is probably within one of the limitless timelines that Undertale players create every time they start up or reset the game.
Which means that this picture was an event from some timeline.
It also means that infinite numbers of variables are floating around each timeline, meaning that a player or a fan will eventually find/create a new line in the story.
It isn't so difficult to save someone when you have an infinite number of tries ;D.
