Finding the bottles is a bit problematic. I live in NYC and haven't been able to find a place that sells them up here. I lucked out and found a Hobby Lobby in Mississippi over the holidays that sold them; I bought all they had.

That's lovely!! I saw it on the DA front page and couldn't help but take a closer look. Was this charm hard to make? It looks more difficult than my little mind can handle lol.

It takes a good bit of concentration and forethought, but they're not physically difficult to make.

It's really pretty. I might see if I can make one myself if you don't mind me using this idea. ^w^ I think there is a wicca shop not far from where I live where I could get supplies, not to mention 14 acres of woods around my house. ^^ I like to surround myself with nature.

I found them at a craft store in Mississippi; they can be very hard to find - I couldn't even find them at the Pearl craft store here in NYC.

i just wanted to stop by and congratulate you for your good work.
but theres one thing id like to admit: for all the viewers it would be quite interesting to know how tall they are. because there isnt any point who gives information about it.
keep on making your ideas real, jen.

So how you pick the ingredients? How big are they? Can anyone make them (assuming that the person has either alchemical or magical abilities)? Where do you get your ideas for these? How long do they take to make? Where do you get the little vials and stoppers, and how do you make the stoppers stay in?

Whew! I think that's all my questions about these very interesting oddities ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Izile In reply to chaosshade [2008-01-14 17:16:54 +0000 UTC]

I've done a lot of research and have a lot of sources at hand to help remind me of all the mystical properties and mythological meanings of gemstones and herbs. The vials themselves are between 1 - 1.5 inches. Those don't count any vials that have danglies on them. I see no reason why anyone with proper resources, supplies and desire couldn't make their own. The time it takes to make it depends on the theme, whether or not it's got dangly charms on the outside, and what the ingredients are. For example, I shatter/chip a lot of my own gemstones; pyrite chips off pretty easy into vial sized pieces; other gemstones, like garnet, are much harder to shatter. Also, are the herbs something I have growing in my garden, or in my pouch of things I brought back from the Mississippi wilderness during Christmas, or do I need to go out and hunt and gather the ingredients? The wire wrapping itself tends to go pretty quickly. The little vials are *hard* to find. I live in New York and have been unable to find them here. I found a source while home in Mississippi; and bought the store out; and they're made so the stoppers fit in very snuggly. I've considered gluing in the corks, but then if you wanted to use a little of the oil (like a drop of rose oil from the passion charm behind your ear, or a drop of tranquility oil on your alter) then you couldn't. Though I don't advertise such suggestions because someone might spill out their contents while trying to get out a drop (with the rose oil, you could just dab the cork directly on the skin, though), and then they'd have to make sure they really jammed the cork back in really well. I waxed a couple of ones in the past, but it seemed more trouble and mess, didn't always look that great, and I haven't had any problems thus far with the vial corks popping out once I've really wedged them in there.

Very cool!

I might try to get my hands on some of this stuff, I really love magical and mystical stuff, and this might be a good way to have some creativity with it.
