Description
i don't do memes often. but this one seemed like a nice opportunity to examine and pay tribute to all the people/things that have inspire me. It was tougher than i initially imagined , and i left out plenty of them, but here's my map, encompassing some of my oldest inspirations to my most recent ones.Masamune Shirow :best known for Applesseed and Ghost in the shel,l this is the man . THE MAN. before him all i knew about comics is that they all dealt with either superheroes or kids with self esteem issues( whatchoo doing Charlie Brown?). He open my mind to a a new possibility i have not previously considered, but not only that, he did it with quality and substance. he crafted complex stories and even more complex worlds and yet he mange to make it all very grounded. even when he dealt in the areas of Magic. Not only did he draw kick ass cities and mechas, but also some sexy ladies. if I'm still interested in drawing today its because of the work of this man.
TMNT: the teenage mutant ninja turtles. this was probably my first obsession when it come to comics, cartoons and movies. in fact, the first comic i ever drew was about them, all the turtles rendered in glorious stick figure form, battling the foot clan just to get some pizza (it probably put Uwe boll to shame). It also had one of the catchiest tv theme songs ever, but funny thing is , that's not the music that pops into my head when i think of them - this is [link]
Adam Warren : this guy showed me that there was awesome manga artist outside japan. but what i really enjoy about his stuff it the writing. packing really smart stories filled with great dialog and humor. Everytime i read his stuff , like his lastets work "Empowered" (in stores NOW), i feel like i learning a new word or a new used for old ones. I believe that Adam Warren is not man, but some sort of encyclopedia/dicctionary that became self aware and develop a conscience.......and has a bondage fetish.

Norman Rockwell: the man can tell entire an entire story in one painting , filled more emotion and entertainment than some full length movies.
Ranma 1/2 : when all the anime i saw was either a bout giant robots or super saiyayin fighting, this one came out of left field. a dude that transforms into a girl when hit by cold water , and his dad transform into a Panda? and then it just get crazier from there. love this series!
The fifth Element: The only movie that i have watched 8 times at the movie theater. you got your hero Bruce Willis, along with sexy Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker for comedic relief, and Gary Oldman as the bad guy . it was just, for the lack of a better word, perfect. i dont think ive seem a movie that's so well crafted when it comes to pacing ,editing , design and music. did i mention it has Gary Oldman as the Bad guy?!man ,i love that guy. i mean maybe my favorite villan actor is William Dafoe, but Dafoe's "AVENGE ME!!" cant equals Oldman's "EVERYYYYOOOONEEEEE!!!! [link]
Frank Cho: this is one talented motherfucker, and funny to boot. can you believe this guy did newspaper comic strips? im sure this fucker put everything in the funnies section to shame back then. if you don't know his work you need to check his Liberty Meadows stuff. like right NOW!! [link]
Saka: this was probably the first internet artist i followed. and her page was one the first places i visited back then when i was a internet noob. she is amazing, even her sketches are amazing . from her anatomy, to her colors, this girl ROCKS!. she deserves more love than she's getting. [link]
FLCL : if you ever hit a wall, and get creatively constipated, then FLCL is your mental Exlax. just watching this show will supercharge you creative batteries . I guarantee!
Adam Hughes: the master of the "Grand tetons!" and all around nice guy. im sure that is Alfonso Mucha was alive, he would draw catwoman the same way. [link]
Skydoll: my most recent obsession has been about Skydoll. the artwork , the characters and the world are all top notch. i just wish the creators would hurry up with the next book.
Yukimi: this is a hentai artist (don't judge me!) but its some high quality stuff . her artwork really inspires me...in my pants.
Frank Miller: Crazy old lovable frank miller. sex drugs and murder, all in slick black and white. if you need some negative space lessons, check this guy out.

Those are some damn good influences to have, esp. Norman Rockwell, Adam Warren, and anime like Ranma 1/2 and FLCL.
