‘Moon Rise’The hair, which is normally a joy for me, took so long on his piece. I cannot recall how long I spent in this but it was less than two hours. Graphite and pastel pencil on toned tan paper.

I am well Jess, It is holiday season here in Aus, unfortunately our state and others Victoria are being impacted by bushfires the size of which never before experienced.
My wife and daughter overseas, while I'm here looking after the dog. plenty of time to do art.
Hope you get some motivation in this new year. Glad we are following each other on instagram for some extra motivation, some great artist there.

The hair also seems to give it all some kinda decorative value?
With its curls framing her neck as well as creating a base for the image to lean on.
Maybe it is why it took you longer than normal, it contains not only the normal look of hair and its gravity, it is also decor

You know I love me some hairy I was hoping with the toned tan paper I would only focus on shadow and highlights but I got swept away with the hair.
