  Nicknames: Known by most as 'James' or formally as 'Alexander'. Only his dragon and family members call him by (or even know) his first name.

On the rare moments that he and Teioron are given leave, he often discards the uniform entirely and simply wears a heavy coat to keep warm while flying.

PERSONALITY
[Patient] James is more than willing to play the long game in order to get the desired results. He doesn't jump into things or make impulsive decisions, and frowns upon it when others do.
[Hard-working] The way to earn James' respect is through hard-work; he expects a lot from himself and his crew, and is not tolerant of lazy or half-hearted work. New crew members are subject to intense scrutiny not only by James, but by most of the crew; although once you have proven yourself, he trusts that you will continue the good work. He spent a lot of time with his parents, learning from his mother Kanien'kéha and the beliefs of her people, and from his father how to hunt and survive on long forays into the wilderness, knowledge he retains to this day.

At age seven, there was a food shortage in the community; some children in other families died, and instead Thomas and Terés sent a few of their children away. James and an older sister were sent to the Corps. His father took them aside and told them that they would fit in a little better by using their English middle names.

Early Career (1760-1774)
Like all squeakers sent to the Corps at a young age, the first few years of his career were not spent in active combat but rather in the Halifax covert, learning from Captains-to-be who were grounded while waiting for their dragons. They kept him and the other youngsters busy to keep them from getting homesick. He and his sister were together for this time, but were not assigned to the same crew and have not seen eachother for years.

James first served on Sanctimonia, a female Regal Copper, which he remembers as a... less than pleasant period in his life. Not only was this the first time in his life that he was entirely isolated from his family, a combination of his irreverence for religion and Captain Miller's tendency to refer to him as a 'halfbreed' meant that he didn't get along well with his superior officer. His first reaction was despair, but after a conversation with a friend (Lieutenant Walsh) he became determined to prove himself and become a valued member of Sanctimonia's crew. While he and the Captain never became close, nor did he ever earn the man's respect, he was grudgingly accepted as a competent crew member. When Walsh harnessed a Yellow Reaper, James immediately took the opportunity to serve on a different dragon.

Mellitus, the Reaper Walsh harnessed, was the last dragon James served on before becoming a Captain himself. Walsh was boisterous, loud, and friendly almost to a point of annoyance, but James found it an immense relief when compared to his past experience. He advanced gradually over his years serving on Mellitus and remembers those years fondly. He remains friends with Mellitus and her Captain to this day, and while their activities in the Corps often means that they do not see each other for months or even years, James looks forward to the next time they meet.

James was 21 years old when, in the deep of winter, he was summoned by the admiralty and asked if he would like to attempt the harnessing of a Papillon-Noir whose egg had recently hardened. He accepted immediately; pleasantly surprised, as he had expected that his background might make it hard for him to get a dragon of his own. He said goodbye to Mellitus and her Captain and was grounded for the weeks leading up the the hatching.

He sang to the egg in Kanien'kéha, hoping that the dragonet within would pick up the language as well, and was pleasantly surprised when the dragonet began to sing those songs while cracking the shell. He named her Teioronhióien due to her blue-and-green stripes, which reminded him of the northern lights. They were trained in the Halifax covert for a year-and-a-half, learning formation flying and all the standard things which would be taught to a new Captain and dragon.

James and Teioron have mostly been patrolling and have only seen a few small skirmishes.

PERSONALITY
[Charismatic] Friendly, talkative, kind - Teioron has the makings of a great diplomat.
[Curious] Teioron has an insatiable desire to learn new things, and questions everything she sees. The covert has received multiple complaints about her descending upon a weaver or a trapper and interrogating them on every step of their job, until either a dragon is sent to find her or she has learned a new skill. She loves riddles, games like chess, and any and all activities that engage her intellectually. James has a hard time seeing this as a real problem, but he's done his best to keep her from bothering townsfolk too often. Teioron also tries to learn more languages, despite how difficult it is for mature dragons to do, whenever she encounters a new one.

  [Honest] Honesty is something that Teioron values greatly, and while it can be a great strength, sometimes the truth is painful.
  [Dramatic] Teioron loves to put on a show. Her crew and captain view her antics with great amusement, as does most of the covert, but some get a little annoyed. She also tends to be a bit of a gossip and is a gold mine of rumours and secrets.

She has a set of flat stones painted with marks to represent what piece they are, as a dragon-sized chess set would be hard to come by. - good conversation

- getting dirty (she's not noisy about it, but she'll clean herself the first chance she gets)

- maneuverable
- clever; able to make quick decisions
- knows the environment very well

Weaknesses:
- does not enjoy fighting and tends to hold back when attacking
- her colours make it difficult to camouflage during the day
- being a Papillon-Noir, her crew must be careful to signal that they're British, lest they be mistaken as French and attacked.

Teioron's parents were French Papillon-Noirs captured during the Seven Years War, and now live in the Newfoundland breeding grounds; they kept her egg for a month, thus enabling her to pick up French while in the shell. Her egg was then transported to the Halifax covert, to await its hatching. In December 1774, her egg hardened, and a 21-year-old named Atená:ti James Alexander was assigned to harness her.
