Recently I've seen many bloggers helping poor people in their videos. In russian youtube it became quite a hype trend... Young vloggers buying clothes/food for homeless people or oldmen. Which is awesome, except, for instance, the fact that some bloggers give poor people a summer set of luxury brand clothes instead of buying a whole wardrobe of cheeper, but more useful and warm clothes a homeless person need (on the same money sum). In one of those videos, a homeless man simply didn't get why should he be amazed by Louis Vuitton tag on his shirt... While the famous star and influencer was streaming this act of kindness via stories.

What is this? Should such actions be encouraged? Or criticized for hypocrisy?

Beautiful piece of artwork with an interesting concept!

I think the issue at hand is a lot more complicated than giving people food and clothes (especially designer clothes :S how is that useful!! when the cost of a jacket could pay a few months of rent) . In any attempt to help others the first thing that they should consider is not only how impacting the influence on their life will be, but also how sustainable. Of course the immediate needs of people need to be met (food, clothes, housing) but to resolve the issue one needs to address the root cause of the homelessness. Often there is a common narrative to the past stories of these individuals, but the nature of humankind is that everyone has their own experiences that may be unique to themselves.
How can one remove an individual from this situation in a way that is sustainable, according to what they know and they've experienced?ย I figure those vloggers haven't considered this question, and the act of generosity is a publicity stunt to curry favour.ย

This piece is beautiful and it speaks so much..... what a gorgeous piece filled with emotion and thought.

As for the trend of vloggers giving poor people things, I think it's nice that people are being kind, (the world needs more kindness!) but I do not like that many do it only for the clicks .... so they are getting ad revenue from this so-called "kindness." So it's not done out of the goodness of their heartsย  - it is often done because they know they will get profit in return, and that's not a selfless act, nor do I think it should be rewarded. This is just like some videos where people do nice things and then they record it and put it on Youtube as if their act deserves grand recognition - when they should just allow the target person to simply have enjoyed or be grateful without being solicited all over the internet for being the receiver of said act. It is my belief, that expecting and anticipating a reward for a kind act, shouldn't be the driving force for why we do them.

I believe kindness often goes unrecorded and unshared -- often, even, unthanked, and that's okay.ย  It is the kind act that means something, not the "reward" or return for doing the act.
