Description This is a photo of a male Northern Cardinal taken in an outdoor viewing area in the Columbus Zoo.

I'm still adjusting to the new camera, but this one turned out particularly well. I could have asked for the tree branch in the foreground to be in a different location, but I'll take it!

I love how clear the picture came out. The detail of the feathers and beak is amazing. Cardinals don't usually give you the chance to admire them too closely out in the wild, but this photo really brings him to life. ^_^

Thank you! They're usually gone the second you look at them. He actually stood still, let me focus manually, and snap a couple shots without flinching. I wish I had shot at a lower ISO, but like you said, they normally are gone so quickly, getting the shot was my first priority.

Such a gorgeous capture, the contrast of colours is lovely, really makes the cardinal stand out and look more magnificent against a muted background. Lovely.
