Omg i didnt know you took this shot! i have always loved this one!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it reminds me of even now.. We just moved to cali.. and i had to leave me dance stuido behind.. i love that place.. it wasnt a huge place just some wonderful lady teaching dance out of her house! shes like a best friend to me amost! but i had to leave it all behind me.. and how here in cali.. all we have are HUGE stuidos! classes the size of at least 20! ( the biggest i ever got was 8) as much as i love to dance.. i still havent started again.. i think its cuz im scared.. and i walk in this one studio to watch.. and i feel just like a lil girl again, even thou.. i would be the oldest in that class.. man i miss dancing! Wonderful work!

I think this is a great photo, it has a emotional impact .. a little fear and trepidation with her body language and dark colouring and blue tones.

For me (and this is just my own personal opinion which you don't have to agree with) I would crop this picture further in, and removing the windows. Take two piece of paper when you look at this picture and crop into it at the top and left, leaving the little girl at the top left of the picture and the large expance of shiny floor. The impact for me increases. It slightly changes the meaning of the photo, more darkness .. even if it is a happy memory of her first class, the picture denotes worry and uncertainty. Brilliant work, lovely intensity and .. just everything about it.

... I thought it was something creepy judging from the tones. Something 'Ringu' like.

But now that I see what it actually is all about... I'd say this is a gorgeous piece.
I love the atmosphere, and your niece's pose. So innocent and so sweetly anxious.
