I looked through your gallery, and I see that many of your "street" shots would
already qualify as conceptual or abstract -- they just happen to have people in them.
This one is uncharacteristic of your work because it is so minimal (very different from "The X,"
though that one is also abstract). But this one makes me pause to look for much longer
because the "recognition" is like a word on the tip of the tongue. My cognition cycles through
many possibilities very rapidly (cactus, spear head, carving...) and then I am captured by
the specific colors, textures, lines (the thing itself) largely because even its "simplicity" is
contrasted by the blankness of the background (which I don't know, in intially, is sky). The title
grounds me, of course (the description is not even necessary), but by then I have entered
and exited a contemplative state of mind.
In your street photos I sense that you, as the photographer, are going into a similar mode
as you "capture" a moment. If this kind of minimalism challenges you, that is the direction
you should go (otherwise, why spin your wheels in a mode you have already perfected?).
(Now I see the last comment was February -- consider what you did with "Taking.")
