Well, if you would like I could point out all the ways in which I know that they're young ladies who were dressed up by a studio. It's a popular tourist activity in Kyoto and while the studios can do a very good job, they make a few "mistakes" to make sure the real maiko/geiko can be distinguished from the fake. ^^ It's a very pretty picture nonetheless ^^

Well, for your own enjoyment and comparisons, here's a picture of a real maiko from that area at the same level of training they would have if they were wearing the hair ornaments with the dangling pieces of folded silk. One of the easiest things to notice is the fact that the real one has her own hair styled into the hairstyle, while the others are wearing wigs. The real maiko also only has her bottom lip painted which would be worn during the time the hair ornaments would have the dangling bits, her first year of training. c2.staticflickr.com/8/7021/649… and no problem dear ^^

onde os homens se dirigem para poderem usufruir da companhia e dança dessas maravilhosas mulheres....
Por acaso tiveste oportunidade de saber???? Desde que lí o Diário de uma Geisha que este tema me
interessou muitíssimo....

sim ainda existem uns mais turísticos e outros mais hard, a situação já não é igual a antigamente fruto da evolução e o conceito foi alterando
