I am not a big fan of beggar images. Not only it is a very common subject for street photography, but more annoying is the fact that you will always find tons of people to claim to be moved by a such image, while they will go their way and overlook the beggar while in the street. Another typical weakness of beggar's images is that there is not interaction what's so ever with the place or the people around. In that regard, this image is much better: Not only there is this symmetry - the dog on one side, the man on the other - framing the door, that tells me that this guy wants to catch everybody who is going to use this door - the dog will force the walker by to use the right door, where is will be caught by the man - but you also show the interaction with the crowd - in his gaze and by having cleverly including people in the reflection.
Technically speaking, the black and white conversion is good, the natural lines are well used in framing.
I could dream of not having the bike, as it is more a distraction than anything else, and you could also crop the leg on the bottom left, but this is street after all. you have to cope with reality.

You can't crop the foreground leg on the far left of the image because it draws you into the legs across the reflection and then to the central figure in the work because exactly he is at leg-level.

A friend of mine once said.' I dont like street photography.'
Why? I asked.
'I dont like seeing homeless folks in distress.'

yes --a street cliche--one i think has taken over street photography--as my efforts to deviate from such prove unsuccessful.
O --this is not about me...

i am drawn to this because of the dog and reflection and dont necessarily feel like this guy is in some overly sadden place.
he is more then likely aiming to get his money for his next fix.

Thank you for your time.
Just one note here: I'm pretty much sure that the man was not a bggar, he just sat there. May sound strange, but that's how it looked
Thanks once again!

I think it would be a lot better if the dog has a lighter color. When I first looked at the photo I didn't see the dog. It would be so much better if the dog seen much clearer
That's my opinion btw. And still a great photo.

I see your point. The easiest solution for this would be either talking to the dog so that it'd change its clothes or to spray it with paint. Both solutions seem a bit risky
Jokes aside, thanks for the comment!

Haha no problem .
But it's not your fault. It's the dogs . Some things are just luck
I know that and that's all I can say.

I'm glad there's the bike here.
It gives me an important info about the guy. That is his bike, there's his sleeping bag and an other bag on it. So I can imagine this man as a traveler, not as a beggar.

Definitely a good Black and White. I like this because This man and dog seem to be slowed down from the world as others seen through the reflection on the glass seem to be engaging in something.
Good how even though there is quite a lot going on in the picture, the subject is still strong.
If this was in colour I don't think it would have as much impact. Overall, nice exposure and very interesting.

The symmetry in this shot is amazing, especially the similarity in the expressions between the man and the dog. Perfect timing

I was wrong. It seemed to me that the words on the door were in portuguese but I see now that they may be in spanish. Am I right?

Two words that are similar to the portuguese and spanish languages. Do they also mean "perfumery"?
