From left to right:

Ring of the Inquisition, ???, Ring of the Qun (or so I suspect), Ring of the Templars.

What's the glowing rings significance? Any ideas? I can't bring myself to recognise it from any lore or previous games

The Inquisition, (what I think is) the Red Templars, The Circle of Magi, and the Templars.

The far left is the insignia of the "Seekers Of Truth" an organization formed by senior members of the Inquisition. So I'd say they are not the same, rather a branch? The "Inquisition"was refered to, as explained in the DA wiki, the Seekers Of Truth and the Templar Order combined, however suggests they are now working against different goals. But they clearly will re-instate the "Inquisition" for some reason.

I believe the red ring is indeed a phylactery. Wich are used as tracking devices of mages stored and used by the templars when they need to find an apostate. The phylactery glows more the closer to it's owner it is.

I see what you mean about the left ring. And yeah, I guess they could be classified as a branch, or a sub-section group or whatever.

Though I may be inclined to disagree with you on the red ring. Phylacteries are vials of blood, and are not crystallized, as the ring is. Another point would be that all the other rings are symbols for important groups within the game, and the fact that Red Templars are a very important enemy is worth noting. If you aren't aware, Red Templars are a rebel group of templars that have taken to consuming red lyrium rather than the normal kind, and thus have become insane. In Dragon Age II, the Lyrium Idol that was taken by Bertrand in the Deep Roads was Red Lyrium. It is also a red crystal-like substance that glows when in use or contact with skin.

Ooh, I see! I have not looked up any information on the Red Templars, but you make a very considerable point. I didn't even think about the red lyrium, since it was obvious in DA2 that it's bad stuff and you shouldn't put it in the hands of the player. But it does sound interesting! It does make perfect sense that it's red lyrium at least being made into a ring and all that. Only thing I don't understand is why the Inquisitor would use it, or how. It's only beneficial to Templars and Mages, is it not? However Red Lyrium has been quite the mystery up to this point... Who knows?

Man, now I'm eager to get the game to find out what it is and yet again someone has intruiged me into raising the bar of what to expect by the plot. DENG IT!

I think the Inquisitor just had the ring because it's a faction. Not really that he uses it.

I know, right? The plot is thickening with every update I hear about. I heard about the Red Templars through the 30-min gameplay demo that came out a while ago. Haven't you seen it?

Yes, I was aware there was a gameplay video, but that was a leaked gameplay. Didn't know about the demo video from DigiExpo 2013. I want to avoid as much spoilers as possible, however this Demo though, seem to be considerably spoiler free. I'll definitely watch it, thanks!

*started to watch*

Damn, it looks amazing though, a lot of changes and I like it!

It does not seem like the Red Templars is a faction that the inquisitor supports though does it? Since a group of them were actively taken out by the Inquisitor in the gameplay without any sort of dialogue?

Yeah, the gameplay that they're able to create with the new engine looks amazing. I guess that is why it's called next-gen, right? lol But yeah, I'm thinking that the Inquisitor is against the Red Templars - I think everyone is, to be honest. But then again, I'm not so sure the Inquisitor is really FOR anyone, is he?

Vaporizer In reply to Mizayo [2014-02-10 04:42:39 +0000 UTC]

I belive the Inquisition set in action has a specific purpose. How the Inquisition handle the objectives at hand has little significance just to get them done no matter the consequences. Like you said, not FOR anyone. Just to do his duty, then step down from power when things are settled. Since The inquisitor also can be any race I suppose only strengthen the theory about not being FOR anyone.

Exactly! It's one of the things that I think will make the game worth playing - rather than being forced to be on the side of someone you're not particularly fond of. Though... I'm semi-hoping we'll be able to choose a group to support more if we want to. I've always had a thing for the Qun. Or the Templars. Haha! Though of course that seems to be a bit of a controversial topic...
