This is inspiring. What a medium to choose! Clay board...It makes me want to give it another shot. I like that you choose a more obscure...more challenging medium...everyone's so giddy about pencil and digital paint.

This really captures the beauty and the sorrow of stone cemetery angels. They are just wonderful...and dang, clay board is the best way to capture it. Never would have thought of that, myself. The details are breathtaking...you have amazing talent for working in the reverse. Just amazing. The hair, the expression, the hand Everything about it...

Only complaint here is that the wing seems a little out of place with the stone look of the angel's face and hair. It's rather fuzzy for a wing rather than smooth like stone or infact, feathers.

cheers to your talent!

You win my soul.

Thank you for the crit. You are right about the wing, when i began the angel, i prefered it appear more fuzzy, more real. I dont want the viewer to just look at the piece and see a statue of an angel. I want them to see something more alive, or something in a transitional state. The struggle to elevate into a state of being, or potentially, enlightenment. But looking back at it, I think youre critique is quite accurate, the wing stands out too much, seperating itself from the statue. Ill definetly take this into consideration in my later pieces, and thanks for the honesty and comment.

When I mentioned that it looks like a statue, that doesn't mean I don't think it looks alive. It looks very much alive, and that part of what I love about this. It's just, to me, sculptures look very alive as well. So I wouldn't say that calling it a statue is the same as calling it dead or stoic. Quite the contrary!
