currently im at the university of alabama, which is not an art school. so im seriously considering transfering to a college more geared toward art, but im still learning alot, and trying to supplement my artistic growth with any outlet or resource i can find. where are you headed? might help me with me decisions...

Im heading to Massachusetts College of Art in the fall. They are amazing. They offer a lot of different programs. When I visited I got to see some of the finals that they had, and I was completely awe-struck.
I'll probably be pursuing a major in illustration with a direction towards sequential art and comic books.
You should definitely consider it, its a pretty low price, too because its a public college.

ill look into it for sure. and its good to hear about your interest in sequential art and comics. I grew up on comics, and they sparked my interest in art, so i have a deep affection for them. its great to hear youre so excited about art too and i hope you learn as much as you can, and then get to work! i look forward to seeing some of your future pieces.

i do every now and again, to be honest, i mostly looked at comics---i wasnt too invested in their story lines, though some were written well. I learned alot studying panel to panel, and still do today.

this is gorgeous, anyways could you tell me what indian ink is?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jackyll In reply to AcousticKarebear [2006-04-12 21:47:36 +0000 UTC]

sure, india ink is a smooth black ink. you can use it in a variety of ways, and get a diverse range of line quality---from fine, to bold. you can use it to do strictly line work, or you can add water to it to do washes or to paint a subject. when you add water to it, you generally build up layers to darken, much like watercolor. thats what i did in both this piece and the wonderland piece, but ive also painted landscapes with it, and i find it very fun and easy to use. hope that helped
