Description Every year the South Westerly winds blow sediment from the San Luis Valley towards the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. These sediments pile up forming the Great Sand Dune National Park. Along the Eastern perimeter, Medano Stream carries these particles back South West of the dunes allowing the winds to redeposit the sand back on the dunes.

In all my years of living in Colorado, I have never been to the Great Sand Dunes! And I really want to go. But when I look at your photo here, I feel almost like I'm there. This is a really nice photo! I love all the subtle contrasts there are here. There the light sand and the shadowed Rockies.. The vertical flow of the sand and the wide range of the Rockies. The smooth sand and the rugged vegetation above. I also really like the natural complementary color scheme too with the blue sky and mountains with the orange sand. I think my only problem with this photo is that it feels a bit cramped towards the top. But other than that, nice job. :3

Beautiful photo. I love how clear and detailed the sand dune is in the foreground. I can see individual grains of sand. I love the shadows too. Awesome shot! Thanks for sharing.

I like how this image starts in the sand dunes, treks through forest and ends with snow capped peaks. Well done!

I was so freaking pleased to see lines like this when I first stepped out of my car. I just knew the rest of the day would be quite pleasant.

Nice shot. I like the way you captured the give and take between the sand and the plants life. That sharp edge of the encroaching dune looks really good.
