Description
As I am getting definitive sketches of all characters involved in AWNGO’s story, my next step was drawing the fathers of the two main protagonists.John Vorhaus (top left) is Jax’s adoptive father. I drew him how he looked when Jax was a child. John immediately embraced Jax as his son when Alexandria brought the infant to his steps claiming him as his. Of course, Jax, even as a baby, had horns and his ears, so it was obvious that John, a non-magi human with a long lineage of non-magi humans, was not his biological father but he had always wanted children and struggled to produce any. (Before Alexandria, John had a long relationship with Ursula) John would continue to love and nurture Jax well into college until his unfortunate death. He, himself, had a rough upbringing by an alcoholic power hungry father who had prejudice against creatures and magi. He also became a pirate and has extensive knowledge of ships.
Melphisto (no last name) is Jax’s biological father and a god. Melphisto spent over a decade bound to a cursed forest before he would meet Alexandria, Jax’s mother. Together, the two slaughtered orphan magis to increase his power. However, Alexandria fell in love with him and would bear his child at 16. Melphisto is callous and cruel, feeling hardly a thing for Alexandria. He even causes her death. This causes Alexandria to take Jax and leave to John, who she had met a few times while out of the forest, as she feared Melphisto would harm his son. Unbeknownst to her, Melphisto would secretly spy on them until he would convince Alexandria to leave Jax and John. Although most don’t believe him capable, Melphisto does indeed love Jax and is proud of him, even while Melphisto is working in secret to cause a war and is experimenting on beings. This drawing of him is before he is cursed to the forest.
Lastly, Simon Amon is Faith’s father, a powerless human who lives in and is from our Earth. Simon was a librarian in a small suburb outside on New York City. He meets Faith’s mom when he witnesses her get hit by a car and rushes her to the hospital. He is amazed not only by her radiant beauty but also the fact that she makes it with barely a scratch. She falls instantly in love with him upon being introduced to the man who saved her and the two promise to meet up. Soon enough, they become incredibly close and she admits she is from another world and isn’t human. She was on the run for betraying someone close to her and stole a spell to travel to a new world. He allows her to move in with him and the two make a life together, her working in a local garden. They give birth to their only child, Faith, and Simon can’t help but gush and dote over her. Unfortunately, a few months after the birth of Faith, Simon dies in a car accident by a drunk driver. Faith, never having gotten to know him, only had pictures of him and the stories her mum would tell her. Simon was goofy and frivolous but had a giant heart that made him incapable of saying mean or cruel things.
