...Kemonos are furry now....
...the ears are depicted as being fake, they they're supposed to be real, situated behind the cloth headband....
....Is this a cosplay of Felicia?

I was looking over the reference photos of the old character designs and she had the ears coming out of the headband, not behind it so *shrug* Her tail is also attached to the bottom part of the wrap around, so isn't that headband looking thing fur instead of cloth anyway based on how she was drawn up? : /

Which ref you used? The oldest one I have is actually posted in a lulzy deviation I made, but there's a redraw of that one that you can see here: pbs.twimg.com/media/C9OoYILXkA…
But nah, it's a headband actually. It wraps around her forehead and criss crosses around her neck. That's how her blue bang which is apart of her hairline further up her head, springs out from underneath it like that. Also, the headband squeezes the back of her neck and hair to form that sort of lion mane she has going.

Gah! I HAD that one in really crap quality! (it's shown on the side in the speed paint vid >< I seriously thought they were all attached! : / Dang, guess I'll be going back in to fix that later : / Thanks! : x I could make out the wrap around but not the ears/headband line. I will fix this later.

Yeah I know what you mean. I tried looking it up myself as well and got the same thing. I had the original Gamefan magazine strategy guide that came out back during 1994, so I have all the concept artwork and stuff.

Aaahh! Jealous! That'd be so cool to have! >< Also, went back in and fixed her up and replaced the file *peace sign* ^^ Thanks again! It seemed I'd also forgotten the pads on her feet and a strip of fur on her stomach, ha ha I got so into painting her for so long, I really need to pay more attention to the references or do a final check ; p

You win Most Valuable Artist award! Good job!
I only wish I could have someone critique my artwork like I do others ;_;
But anyway, congrats!
Any tips on how to paint?

General tips? References! Always use references! Seriously, it's NOT cheating and it REALLY helps you learn! And do studies! Especially for light and shadow placement if you're just starting out! As far as tools go, I've been using photoshop a lot for painting : x it's a pain in the a$$ tbh. The interface isn't novice friendly or very intuitive and it's very keyboard shortcut dependant but it's great if you have patience lol. Also layers are your best friend in digital, and you don't need fancy super expensive tablets or brushes or anything. The tablet I use and have been using for years now is a cheapy $40 Turcom Huion. I use the default hard round and default airbrush in photoshop mostly for my stuff. A few good starter tricks is laying out your base colors, then using multiply on your brush with the color for shadow, and color dodge on your brush (make sure the color is on white) for light, but use a soft airbrush and have opacity by pressure on when doing this so you're not laying down solid blotches of color. For blending use the mixer brush tool with a soft airbrush selected but make sure the loads off (I believe so it doesn't load color) and clean is on. If there's anything specific feel free to ask. : ) I can't tell you what's "best" or anything but I can try to tell you what's been helping me as I've been trying to learn myself : ) If you're interested in learning anatomy placement and stuff for drawing, Proko is on youtube and he has some great easy to understand anatomy tutorials to check out. Also, a great place for references and stuff I've found is pinterest : ) there are a bunch of artist thingies and sheets on there : ) just pop in the search bar what reference you're looking for. You don't HAVE to have an account. Looking over your own gallery though, it seems like you know your way around digital pretty well already lol so I don't know if any of this is news to you. I can't say I'm one to critique myself though, partly because I don't feel I'm at a level to really be picking apart anyone's stuff myself but there are art sites out there that are big on critiquing the members so they can learn and grow for the more tough-skinned art enthusiasts. I can't remember any of the names myself but I'm sure if you google it and wander a forum post or two they'll pop up again no problem. ^^ Good luck!
