Description Yay! I finally completed my Metal Gear Solid 2 comic page! I love poking fun at my favorite video games and the MGS series is definitely my biggest fandom.

You can see the original idea sketch here and how drastically the final product has improved:

You can see the updated digital version here:

This comic took longer to make than expected because I decided to make it REALLY big! I also had some trouble translating the backgrounds to work in my style.
Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys my comic! Now go and play the MGS series! It's amazing beyond words!
It's weird, in this comic I spoiled the ending of the game without actually spoiling the ending of the game. That doesn't really make much sence, but if you've played the game you probably know that I mean.
I can't even begin to tell you how hard it was trying to summarize one of the most complex video games in the world into only 9 panels...

I drew this with a black Pentel marker and colored it with Prismacolor pencils.

I'm up to frame 3!!! (almost)
I also got an idea for my first MGS2-related piece. Raiden is SO funny - he cracks me up. "there is a node" Raiden - "did you just say Nerd?" awe, so cute I think you captured his essence perfectly

That's awesome! I'm really happy you've made some nice progress in the game, it has such an amazing storyline. I know a lot of people hate Raiden so I'm very happy that you like him! I'm also a Raiden fan, he becomes a super bad ass in MGS4 and now EVERYONE likes him. I was one of the few who liked him before it was "cool" to like him.
If you have any troubles with MGS2, don't hesitate to ask me for tips. I've got a million of them! I also know of TONS of weird secrets.

Thanks! I like to figure out stuff on my own as far as the main story line goes, but when it comes for weird things - bring them on. Right now I just got done fighting Fortune and accidentally shooting Vamp. Any secrets in that area?

I figured you'd want to do most of it on your own, that's what I usually do unless I'm completely stumped... The only secrets that I can tell you about without spoiling anything is to try and collect as many dogtags as possible! If you sneak up behind an enemy and pull out your gun (any gun will work), you can hold up enemies. Once they are held up, run around in front of them quickly and put the gun in their face. Look at them up and down while the gun is still drawn and they will jiggle. They should drop a dogtag and more items if you keep looking up and down at them. Sometimes they are stubborn though, for the guys who don't want to give it up, shoot them in the leg with a leathal gun to scare them. But don't shoot their leg with a tranq gun or else they will just go to sleep and not get scared...
Once you beat the game I'll tell you about some weird secrets that are better appreciated on the second play through.
I gotta say though, that battle against Fortune sure scared me! I thought I was doomed...

for me fortune fight was over before I realized what was happening!
as for the dog tags - I panic so much when I'm around enemies, I usually just dash through - thankfully when you pass through a door alarms re-set. I tried doing the hold up a couple times but no luck. I'll just have to see all the special secrets when I'll come visit? I'll be giving it a try here and there, but so far the stats are pretty sad

Jagarnot In reply to Saya1984 [2008-11-27 07:18:39 +0000 UTC]

Well at least there's really no way to lose the battle against Fortune! Unless you really suck at dodging her super slow power up attacks that you can see coming from a mile away. Even when I played it on hard mode she was super easy!
Since I'm not there to help you with holding enemies up, my best suggestion is to practice the hold up mode in the VR training missions. Those missions go over EVERYTHING you need to know in order to survive the MGS series. If you haven't played the VR missions yet, be sure to input UUDDLRLRBA as your user name. It will unlock all the VR missions.
But of course I'll show you the secrets when you come and visit! Just remind me and I'll be more than happy to show them to you.
Oh but I just remembered some weird non-spoiler secrets! When you play through the game twice and keep saving over the same save, when you load the game for your third play through, Snake and Raiden will be wearing super cool sunglasses.
Also, when you play through the Tanker mission and are heading to the place where you take pictures of Metal Gear Ray, if you make it down there in under a certain amount of time you'll see all the marines will be pantless.
When playing as Raiden, if you shoot too many seagulls you'll get an angry call from Rose and the Colonal. But my FAVORITE angry call is when you equip the "book." go into the women's bathroom and then call up the Colonal. He will "highly dissaprove of your actions..."

Saya1984 In reply to Jagarnot [2008-11-27 07:35:59 +0000 UTC]

book? and omg I really want to see pantless marines! Did you ever achieve that? Is that also on the third play through? (that's a lot of plays)
As far as the seagulls go, I have my own favorite, but you'll have to wait to know what it is until I'm done with my drawing... (unless you already know, which you probably do)

Jagarnot In reply to Saya1984 [2008-11-27 07:56:33 +0000 UTC]

I guess you haven't found any books yet, but in various places you can find porno magazines and when equiped they are simply called "books." They are great items for distracting enemies! It's even more fun to watch the enemy as they drool over the magazines, hehehe.
Yes I have seen the pantless marines many times! I've gotten really good at the MGS games so I can get to that part pretty quickly. You don't have to play through it 3 times to see that, it's a secret available right on the first play through.
Let me guess, your favorite thing with the sea gulls is when you slip on their poop or looking up into the sky and they poop on you? Am I close?
I remember how you were saying that FFX-2 had spoiled you with the game+ feature where you can keep various things in the next play through when you load your game. I think MGS will satisfy you in that same way! If you collect enough dogtags you can unlock the stealth camo (invisibility), bandana (infinite ammo for Snake), brown wig (infinite ammo for Raiden), orange wig (infinite grip for Raiden), blue wig (infinite oxygen for Raiden) and various other goodies that I can't remember... I still haven't won the blue wig though. That's the hardest one to get.

You should feel lucky that you are playing the "Subsistance" version of MGS2. The first version, called "Sons of Liberty," was MUCH harder!
By the way, if you play on harder modes the "Alert" status will not go away when you walk through a door. Also, sometimes on harder modes, slipping on sea gull poop will alert enemy attention because it's really noisy. But believe me, it's the effort to try and play this on the harder modes when you get good enough! It's a lot of fun, especially during the bomb disposal. There's new bombs in different places!

Jagarnot In reply to Saya1984 [2008-11-27 18:35:16 +0000 UTC]

Blargh, damn typos... I ment to say it's "worth the effort to play the harder modes." Sorry about that. Seriously though, if you play those VR missions you'll become really good at the game. Those missions helped me better my gaming tactics in other games too. If it weren't for those missions, I'd totally suck at being an assasin or theif in "Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion."

That's why I'd like to show you my tricks! Some of those vr missions are surprisingly funny too. I know there's one where you're in a battle mode playing as Raiden. There's at least 5 rounds against various enemies and the final one was really weird. It was a giant Gurlukovitch soldier that had Godzilla spikes on his back. It was a really hard battle until I realized you can use the porno magazine to defeat him without taking any damage. It was really funny, he looks at the magazine, makes a weird face and then blood spurts out of his nose and you've won the challenge!

Saya1984 In reply to Jagarnot [2008-11-27 19:23:50 +0000 UTC]

amazing! What mission was that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jagarnot In reply to Saya1984 [2008-11-27 19:38:58 +0000 UTC]

It's one of the missions when playing as normal Raiden. It's in Variety mode, level 7. It takes a lot of skill and good aim to defeat all the enemies before you get to fight the giant soldier. By the way, the name of the final boss in this mission is "GURLUGON." You can defeat him with normal weapons, by why would you do it the hard way? Here's a video on how to do it the easy way: [link]

Wow, I had no idea you were into this series! It's my favorite video game series of all time. I even bought a PS3 just so I could play MGS4 (which is awesome by the way).
I'm really happy you like this little comic thingie I made, I'm quite proud of how it turned out myself.

The seventh panel is definately my favourite. Raiden is saying exactly what I was thinking XD

I really love this comic. Especially the 2nd panel (It is just me or is he showing off?)

Jagarnot In reply to Fierygatoh [2008-11-09 11:55:06 +0000 UTC]

Hehehe, yeah I really like the seventh panel too. I mean, they are in a room that is quickly flooding and THAT'S when Emma decides to start telling her life story!?
Oh and the second panel is sorta my own personal joke. He's such a pretty boy, so he needs a pretty introduction. I still love Raiden though, I just like poking fun at him!
Thanks for the fav!

I would have liked to have done a comic thingie like this on the first MGS game but I figured too many people would try to compare it to Metal Gear Awesome... But I love MGS2 so I wasn't bummed about it or anything! I think one of my favorite things about my comic here is Raiden's expression in the last panel. It's so cute and perplexed!
