actually that depends on the warrior type. knights for example never had tatoos and many samurai didn't either.

but i did a reserch..Until the Edo period (1600–1868 AD) the role of tattoos in Japanese society were used as punishment..
and as scorpion is a hell ridden revenge seeker.. it made a bit of sense to add a tattoo
