While I understand that the comics "requires" Arthur to remain single for most of its gags to work, I feel that it is becoming harder and harder to justify it:
1- Erika, to say the least is very very VERY touchy-feely with Arthur, and apparently is more than willing to "molest" him while is is asleep, which I am certain that he would appreciate very much, if he was awake.
2- Sophie, on the other hand, is crushing HARD on Arthur for a while now, and lets be honest: one would have to be not only blind, but ALSO willfully ignorant not to notice, which, as far as the strips have shown us, Arthur isn´t.
3- As for Arthur himself, he quite obviously likes both girls very much; OK, so he made a "deal", but with Erika literally sleeping on his chest every night (how the hell he DOESN´T notice?!?) and stealing kisses, I´d say that the "deal" is now certainly null and void.

This isn't as unrealistic as you might think. Once a person's mentally put someone 'off limits', they can overlook a SHOCKING amount of flirtatious behaviour to keep that intact if they think they have to.

I´d say that a girl stealing kisses and sleeping on your chest every night (how the hell Arthur did NOT notice that?) is WAY above and beyond "flirtatious".

You'd think. But I have literally seen guys with female roomies that do this kind of stuff all the time and they still never even flinch about it. One girl I know had to quite literally throw a beer bottle at a guy and yell that she was interested in dating him because he always thought she was just playing around.

The cat has been out of the bag for a while now. Erika sleeps with Arthur, goes naked around Arthur, takes every chance to get too cozy and kind of kinky with him...and Sophie knows it yet just doesn't unleash her attack...

At this rate, Sophie may just as well give up and tell Erika she's pulling out of the race. Erika seems to always be one step ahead, perhaps even taking advantage of Sophie's lack of assertiveness.
