Anyway here we have 's adorable characters sharing a moment before the daily brief for the medical staff of House Ostergaard's Militia. The one on the left is Maeve Fosse and the one on the right is Laura Ostergaard. Although the unit bears her name she is not the one leading it in battle. Laura's parents died in the early stages of the war and she opted to join her House Militia as its chief medical officer. As for Maeve Fosse, she wouldn't allow Laura to go to war alone.

A bit of backstory, Maeve Fosse met Lady Laura Ostergaard in med school. Even though they have clashing personalities the two of them managed to become good friends. Maeve is a pessimist who jokes around with her dark sense of humor to keep herself from crying. She also puts off a very selfish and aloof attitude towards the world, and has a crummy bedside manner.

However, Laura saw through Maeve's attitude. She believed that it was a front and that Maeve actually cares and uses this rudeness and uncaring attitude as a defense mechanism against growing attached to people who may not be in her life anymore. This was proven whenever the two are alone. Maeve would completely drop the act and openly share her true feelings towards her comrades. Maeve sincerely thinks that Laura brings out the best in her.

Whatever happened between these 2, it is clear that their bond has brought them through the Great War.
