This idea originally spawned from Ponies meet Mecha (specifically Gundam) but then during a nap I had an idea of Evangelion vs gundams...being piloted by Ponies. Yea, everything is better with Ponies in my head.Normally I'm very terrible at Mecha but I'm amazed at how well I drew this. And yes, I made Twilight Sparkle the pilot for a. Main character status and b. they're both purple. But if I did somehow end up making this a full thing, I would probably have it be Eva vs Gundam and I'd probably have Twilight piloting a Gundam...at least that's how it'd play out in my mind.
But, this is all just for fun, and I spent most of the day drawing this one pic. And I felt I should throw in SOME kind of background so that it wouldn't just be two colored pics on a white background, cause I tend to do that and it looks very odd. So I made the crappy background of the Eva about to launch. (And of course Twilight being surrounded by the LCL)
I do hope to make more pony art, cause I love drawing it.
Oh, also MLP:FiM is Copyright Hasbro.
And Evangelion is copyright *Looks it up* Gainax? I'll go with that.

If Twilight is the pilot for Unit 01, then who fills out the rest of the cast? Rainbow defenitly works for Unit 02. But that is all I got. Though Twilight Velvet works as Yui's replacement (if I remember the name right.
Heck, I can't even see anyone filling in for Gendo. No one in MLP is that twisted. Let alone the bigwigs at SEELE.

Back when I originally drew this (2011? Holy crap I was still just a baby) I kind of followed more the color-schemes of the EVAs for who the pilots were more than the personalities. So Twilight was Unit 01s Pilot, Pinkie was Unit 02s, and Fluttershy was Unit 00s. We also knew next to nothing about any of the Mane 6s family members at the time, and Twilight's parents were pretty much nothing more than background props at the time too, so you could've fit anyone into whatever roles for a crossover and it likely would've worked.
That's always been the fun of Crossovers with Ponies, making both universes fit together as opposed to one directly changing the other. You do tend to run the issue of just copying one's story verbatim, but it's still a lot of fun.
If I did an Evangelion crossover with ponies now, I'm not sure how I would do it. Honestly it would probably be WAY easier to have it be an EQG crossover rather than a ponies crossover, but most things would since Humans make everything infinitely easier lol.
Second impact could have happened instead of the Sonic Rainboom (though that negates the whole 'You had to be born after second impact to pilot an Eva' thing), could have had second impact happen before any of the mane 6 were born, or maybe some kind of combination of the factors. As far as EVA goes, it's hard to break away from what the main story of Evangelion is while still having the elements of it, seeing as the giant robots and the 'stop earth's destruction' storylines are so tied together that it'd essentially just be a retelling of EVA but with ponies heh.
Still, it did give me this mental image of all the world leaders together in a Bunker, watching Tirek on a monitor (powered up with all of their magic) fighting Sachiel and losing before Eva 01 gets sent in to fight it heh. That'd be fun.
...Oh, oh! What if it was what the alternate EQG was? Sunset came to steal the crown so that she could stop the angels, and Twilight follows her in and then gets wrapped up in the destruction of Earth and becomes the Pilot of Eva 01? Now THAT'S a fun crossover idea. Dammit all I'M WORKING ON TOO MANY THINGS AT ONCE ALREADY XD. Maybe I'll just settle for redrawing this pic some day, seeing as it's the first pony pic I ever drew lol

I had recently been re-watching the Evangelion remake movies and was really inspired to do some fanart of it when I started watching MLP around the same time. I'm glad I caught the looks well (even though this is my earliest MLP fanart haha) =3

yes, twi is like shinji, in that they're both butt monkeys their respective shows. only twilight definietly has more backbone.

and shinji has problems with his dad, he has to kill the only thing that loved him who was revealed to be an angel, saw a 14 year old girl self destruct her eva while he was watching and eventually, 3rd impact
