Description
Been trying to develop some interesting materials and post-processing effects using simple geometry as a basis. Except for the primitives shown in the upper left, everything else is proceduralβi.e., the effects are generated automatically; there's no textures or manual labour involved (beyond me creating the setup to begin with!) Everything is done in Blender using material & render nodes. And I used the internal renderer. ETA: here's a short animation showing how the materials look when you change your point of view.I'll be sharing some more BGs soon, so stay-tuned for that. I do streams of myself working on BGs now and then on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/jakebowkett I usually announce on Twitter when I'm gonna start streaming, but if you can't watch live or have a crap connection I also upload recordings to a playlist on YouTube: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=β¦
Lastly, I've been working on my new website: www.jakebowkett.com/ I'm doing a total re-write of the code atm because it got a little messy... but as you can see from the links (which now actually work!) there'll a gallery and a blog, among other things. So that's cool.
Oh, and lastly (for real this time) I wrote a program that suggests a random game from your Steam library to play. You can also set it to filter out games you've played for more than X hours (it accepts fractional values like 0.5). It only runs on the command line atm and requires Python 3, but I'm gonna see if I can make a web page that does the same thing so that anyone can use it. Anyway, here's the current code for it if you want to try it out or just have a look: pastebin.com/4zx5SYiN

I really like all of these, did you by any chance explain how you did them anywhere?
My favourite one is the bottom right one, it's somewhat refreshing in the summer heat. I wonder why, though - it makes me think of fizzy drinks with fruit. :3
Have you been getting on well with the tablet? I know some people take more time to get used to them. I hope the pain in your hand goes better, too. I found that between The Big Stretch and using a tablet to browse the Internet and doing other stuff, the pain in my right hand tends to go down if I don't over-do it with drawing and stuff.

(Super delayed reply)
Thanks! I haven't explained how I did them, though I may make a video about that.
I haven't used my tablet /that/ much lately. I've used it a lot more for roughing out website designs and it's been really convenient for that. Most of the pain is actually in my left hand and triggered by typing (which I unfortunately need to do a lot of between programming, writing, and Blender), though I suspect it'll be a bit better when I have better desk + chairβI think the chair is too low, angling my arms slightly upward? Also, now that you mention it I need to install something like The Big Stretch on this new comp!
Thanks for the comment

Absolutely, having your arms angled upwards will do a number on your arms. I developed RSI while working as a localisation tester (lots of typing lines and bugs) and I didn't realise that having the edge of the desk against my forearm was really hurting it.Β
I'll keep an eye on your videos, then, I'm quite curious to see how it was all done!
(Also, for muscular pain: drink a lot! Being well hydrated helps your muscles not get hurt and to recover!)

Ah, that sucks -- I definitely have/had a habit of resting my forearms that way. And yeah, hydration really helps! Something I'm also quite bad with, haha.

The last one is really cool. Looks like some abstract/psychedelic music album cover art.

Yeah the last one is my favourite, though it's not a very practical effect for a full scene.
