Thanks , I was curious what a fauns tail looked like. Didn't know if it was goat like or not, the long and slender tails I like.

The long tail was, for all I know, to be an invention of C.S. Lewis. He describes Mr. Tumnus as having a long tail in the books. Fauns and satyrs are generally depicted identically with fauns being the Roman version of the Greek satyrs. Originally, satyrs were depicted as almost completely human, with their only animal features being donkey-like ears and horse-like tails.

Thank you, I now think the same as well. I even thought of adding fauns to my own stories, the goat tail doesn't seem to work for me.
Fun fact, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were friends.
They were both great authors, sadly I didn't get around to reading all of C.S. Lewis's books though. I may try reading the series before the year ends. Going to finish The Swiss Family Robinson, I like reading fantasy books as well.

Hi, I'm trying to do a fantasy novel that has many races in its world. To help with organization, if two creatures look similar then they are of the same race with 'clan' names (ex. Americans and Chinese are similar so they are called humans, Dwarves and Leprechauns are similar so they are called Dvergr, Pixies and Sprites are similar so they are called Faeries). So, with that in mind what what would you call a race that Satyr's and Faun's belong to.
Also, are there any other creatures that would fit this race.

Probably something like Goatfolk, Pans, Children of Pan, or perhaps maybe Sileni.
What other creature/race groups are there?

Thanks, I think I'll go with the Sylvan (Sylvanus- Roman name for Pan), the Cloven (since they have cloven hooves), and/or Goatfolk.
Other races include:
Gargoyles and Golems, along with any other rock/stone based creatures (gnomes?)
Gremlins, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbears, Trolls, and Ogres.
Merrow, Merfolk (Mermen and Mermaids), Selkie (seal-like), Ningen (Giant Whale Merfolk) and two other types: shark-like Merfolk and a race like Ursula.
This one is backwards; I have the race name (The Terraj) of the creatures that are meant to represent the four seasons, but no names for the individual seasonal races.
And the last one is a bit harder: In the story the first races to appear on the world were animal types created by Nine Moon Goddesses. The idea is that each made their own race, and so far I have Cat-folk created by a goddess based on Bastet (Egyptian), Dear Centaurs created by Artemis (Greek), The Lungaris (Rabbit-folk) created by Chang'e (Chinese), and the last two I don't have a goddess for yet - Wolf-folk (not werewolves) and The Ulvar (Groundhog-folk).
So, if you mind helping to give a group name for all of these beast-folk and possibly some other creatures suggestions since I still need four more.

Actually Sylvanus is the Roman for Silenus, not Pan. Pan's roman name was Faunus. But yeah, I think Sylvans sound pretty good.
As for Ningen, I have my own race of giant merfolk that are part whale/dolphin called "Tritons", based on an ancient description of the Greek sea god as having a tail of a dolphin in place of legs. Octopus-type merfolk have a name called "Caecalia". I suppose you could call the shark merfolk tritons if you want.
As for Wolf folk and ulvar, I don't know about those, sorry about that.
As for other race groups, I have so ideas.
Centaurs-Hippocentaurs(traditional half horse centaurs), Onocentaurs(half donkey centaurs), and Ichthyocentaurs(centaurs that are part fish as well as part horse and have fish tails in place of horse tails).
Fey-Fairies and Pixies(and possibly elves, dwarves, gnomes, brownies, and nymphs if you want).
Duergar-Dwarves and Gnomes.
Sprites-Elves and Brownies.
Other possibly groups could be Elementals, Giants, and Nymphs.
