Description I've been working on this for nearly a week. This is NOT to say this is the finished piece. Yet I wanted to upload it to see if I could possibly get any feedback from anyone.

The task of this assignment was to use a minimum of five images (In this case six) and put them all into one shot. Thus meaning that every item you use (Building, island, water, sky, and little rock on the right) are all separate shots.

I think you did a great job, and all the images - even though they're seperate - look like they're supposed to be where they are. Overall, the entire thing flows together nicely.

Thank you. I'm really trying to get it to look like it is a photograph but I know I can't be perfect.

Hi Jake! This is great, just a few tweaks and I think you could call it finished work. I hope you find the following suggestions helpful:
■ the reflection does stand out too much, try lowering the opacity, add a gaussian blur and/or warp it and mask it with a gradient because I think half of it shouldn't be clearly visible. It also looks like it's on top of the water and not under it so do experiment about that. Maybe add a color overlay too (use a similar shade but darker hue as the water)
■ I think you need a shadow on the left side of the island (behind the building) so you might want to make that portion a shade darker
■ maybe brighten up the upper part of the building a bit too (dodge tool?) to be consistent with the lighting

that's all I can think of. I hope this helps some

I very rarely find a photo manip that I like, but I love this one! It looks so natural, I nearly thought it was a photo from the thumbnail.

That really means a lot. I've been striving to make this as best as I can as it is for a class. If you have any suggestions as to how it could be better, please let me know.

You're really doing a good job. I know it's hard to make a manip look real and not just Photoshop'd so I can only imagine all the time and effort it took.

Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough to see anything that could be improved upon, and just to the naked eye it looks perfectly fine, but like I said, it looks so realistic that I'm sure you're on the right track either way!

This is really nice. I will try for a nice critique for you.

First thing I notice that catches my eye the most, is the reflecting. To me it looks like a layer over a water layer instead of a reflection. You don't really see any water waves in the reflection. You kind of can but overall not really. The edges of the reflection need to share the shape of the waves and not be so smooth like that.
Second i would like to see is the birds to have a little more emphasis. Instead of little blurs, maybe sharpen the birds up.
Everything else is really nice. Great job

Do you have any tips on how to better the waves?

Colemanisawesome In reply to JakeProffer [2011-02-12 04:12:47 +0000 UTC]

Well I would maybe make the reflection a little more transparent so that the wave shapes are noticeable, then use a warp tool and ever so slighter curve the edges of the reflection to the flow of the waves.

this is a very nice image and you've done great work so far. the only thing i've noticed is that the reflection in the water is a bit off, but regardless, nice work
