Its like "Jack and the beanstalk". She traded something useful for something relatively useless.
Modest tells Jake about this, he gets mad and in a rage he throws the whole box of chocodile twinkies out a window, and the next day there would probably be a well or a door of some kind. Maybe a magic elevator box.
And lets not forget about the phone bill she's ringing up.
