Description

Β I'm selling some original Modest Medusa and Ghost Kiss art on ebay! I'm trying to raise some money so I can go to Kumoricon and Geek Girl Con this Fall. Tables are expensive! I have six auctions this week. Each original illustration is drawn with markers and blue pencil. Auctions start at $40 and will run through the 30th. Money from these auctions will go toward tabling expenses at Fall comic cons.

Here's the link!

It's somewhat disturbing that Modest is very likely to grow as bit as a bus almost overnight. Β I don't think she'd be able to live in the toilet anymore.

She’s probably having flashbacks to the spelling tests she had in school.

Am I the only one curious to see what the bottom half of a grown Medusa looks like?

It's just more snake. Nothing special.

Yes, but...

What about where the other snakes join?
What persists of the body and for how long?
How does it work?

Oh, actually if you look back at at Naga's mother and the Gorgon you can see a few panels that show how their snakes are attached to their bodies. They basically protrude like a limb. The original body itself withers up and falls off pretty fast.Β

Are you sure? Because I don't reall them. I still have questions about how it works you probably cannot answer... like, how does the "brain / personality" transfer from the body to the snake?

Well, it could be that they all share a consciousness, and while the child body is dominant that consciousness is centered there, but as the transformation to the adult form takes place it relocates to the adult body. It's also possible that the consciousness and personality Β is fragmented when the creature is young, with the child body having the bulk of the personality and intelligence, but each of the snakes also having a distinct personality, and that as the creature becomes an adult all of these traits merge to form the full personality inside the dominant adult body. Maybe. How the biology works, I have no idea.

Well answered, perhaps better than I expected. I'm glad you've given it a considerable amount of thought.

One of the other main things is the rapididity of the changes. I get it, there's a certain degree of "poetic licence" and such involved. And yet it appears to happen almost overnight to one of her siblings - I find it hard to believe it could happen so fast (I don't mean to be super nit-picky either). A body couldn't even decompose that fast let alone shrivel up (which I'm cetain would be evident in the days leading up to it) - and their rapid growth into a snake-like creature also over such a short period. Wouldn't it need tremendous energy stores for this as well? Sorry to be such a doubter, but I was hoping you have some more answers abou that as well...

I guess it wasn't very clear, but it happened over the course of a few months and started long before Modest arrived. Xbox was already starting to wither away when she went to the cave, and she was there for awhile before the transformation was complete. But yeah, it did happen faster than something like that naturally could. The Hydra are magical creatures and this is definitely a magically fueled transformation.

Can you remind me - when did we see 'xbox' last (if at all) before transformation?

Way back in Season 3 before they escaped the Prince's tower. We haven't seen her since Modest came back to Yeld (which has only been like 2 days)

Ah, so it's at least partially my mistake... I thought we had seen her again since "Modest came back to Yeld".

Also, why doesn't she have medusa brothers?

I think we've seen their tails before, but I don't have the time to look for it at the moment.

Ohoho.... Modest wants magic.
Not surprising, given her initial image of school.
