I know right!!? And I am so excited to see what they do with this new Doctor. Maybe they'll switch up the formula a bit?

Yeah I mean there is nothing wrong with the formula they're using now but a little mix to spice up the show would be nice, and the closest kids or teen companionship-ish is with the new Sarah Jane show kids. I really like their crossover episodes, too bad there isn't more oh well one can hope with the new doctor.

(I'm only on Season 6 of the newer episodes so I'm almost caught up) I was sooo excited when it looked like little Pond was going to the new companion but meh (As it turned out she is my least fave, next to Martha) I wonder if he'll ever get a male companion - just to shake it up.

Who knows when he will get a solo male companion, but mostly his male companions came with a girl or added on like Captain Jack, there are others but the best male companion for me is the Brigadier, he the English(Brit) version of the G.I Joe guys haha.
