I do something like that too. X3 Except I don't do the skeleton stage.

I've tried drawing like this. Even got an artist's dummy. But... I'm not exactly the patient sort ^x^; And I left that behind in the move to the apartment, I should probably go and get it.

Typically, I just start off with a rough outline of the character, or a stickline and then work from there. I've been drawing pen or pencil & paper lately while my computer was in for repairs, but I rather prefer the computer, because I do a LOT of erasing and it always shows. Hopefully my new erasers will help with that ^x^ On the computer using my Graphire 3 Tablet and Paint Shop Pro, I do a stickline/outline in the colors I want to use, starting with the flesh color laydown, and then undo and erase to my hearts content, filling and smudging when I get the clothes down. For eyes I fill the face and then erase the area, because I've found that works better for me when I'm trying to match the eye shape. I'm horrible with matching eye shapes otherwise.

I hate matching eyes. DX.
I usually draw ovals for eye, erase them, and redraw it. XD

XD Sounds like what I'd do, though I try to draw the eye shapes somewhat. I like being a little fancy, but you can't see what I'd normally do from my tablet art, I wasn't used to it enough to get it right. I gave up on the Undo button with drawing the shapes, that's why I put down the skin and then erase a hole for the eye now XD

...then I have to Undo the liner for the eye a million times because it missed...

uniison [2006-01-31 23:10:09 +0000 UTC]

erm well i just do the stick figure then i do the basic 'fleshing' step then i skip the refine step and go straight to the clothing. so i skip your middle(3rd) step. thats prolly why i suck ///_^U you should either get a better eraser or draw lighter lines. i do both so it makes it easy.

Unless I am drawing an extremely difficult pose, I don't usually care to lay it out that detailly before I begin my final piece. (But for illustration it would require me to do so in the future as I learn more about perspectives.)
I tend to just do it by feeling... feeling whether it's in the right place or not.
Some incorrection might be there due to this method, but like manga/anime really demands it, as long as the proportion is kept roughly, I am ok... I am usually not going for realism but the "feel" of movement unless I am sketching a real person.
