I started making some sketches of the dragons ofΒ How to train you dragonΒ in my own style, and ended up giving them a little color with Photoshop.This turned out to be one of my personal favourites.
With the amount of legs this thing has, wings would have just been on the way so I decided to remove them completely.

As I say in the description: "With the amount of legs this thing has, wings would have just been on the way so I decided to remove them completely".
I also thought that removing them would make sense if the species mostly live in caves. Caves can be pretty narrow so you wouldn't have much space to fly around. Having no wings also made the overall shape much more clear. ^^

I have few more of them finished in my sketchbook, but I haven't colored them.
Unfortunately in my current situation I can't continue coloring them, but hopefully some day I'll be able to do so! ^^

she looks stunning!! i really love how clear your design is, especially the head. i actually never liked the original's massive head in proportion to the body, lol.

Yeah, many of the dragon in the series have their proportions quite off, but as a series where target audience is kids it's understandable that they go for more cartoony looks.
I think it's fun to try to make them more realistic while trying to stay as close the original design as possible.Β Β
