Description
Something I started roughing out this weekend. I've got this awesome photo from the 60's that I've been planning to draw for quite a while (recently learned that it's a photo of French-Italian Nino Ferrer with some unidentified beauty). The 2nd one from the left was the first rough, which I then scaled up to 600 dpi (5900 x 9200 pixels), tweaked and started to tighten up. The girl's legs and skirt was what changed the most.
Even though I planned on adding solid blacks it feels good to draw the outlines just to make sure things line up the way they should. Tomer Hanuka (and Gianmarco Magnani) have been huge influences of mine the last few years. Especially in how they approach solid blacks. Tomer usually draws most lines in the original (I have a few) and then spots black while coloring. So his originals look good, but his finished pieces are SO much bolder and more exciting (in my opinion).
Next I tried some alternate heads cause I thought the guy looked too young. The guy is based on Justin Theroux, quite possibly the most handsome man in the world. I ended up going with the original designs however, since I liked their simplicity.
To the far right are a few attempts at finding the right palette. Took a while, but I think it worked out pretty well.

Reminds me of the Doctor and Amy. Well. A cross between Tennant and Smith Doctors.

Thanks. Don't know much about Doctor Who (which I guess you're talking about). But I added the photographic reference.
